viconia alignment *SPOILERS*

I'm romancing Viconia and I know her alignment can shift in TOB. The problem is I'm not sure if I messed it up. When she talked about sleeping together I said we should wait till it was right. Then after Yaga Shura I said that destrution and power aren't good. She siad she had a lot to think about.
So I'm in Amkethran, she asks me if I'd like her to change, and I say go for it. Then she turns around and says she can't. Have I screwed it up somewhere or is there more to go before she changes?

<Edit: I subsequently went back to a save and tried some different dialogues. Eventuall I tried a combination that made her change alignment>

Why would you want her to change alignment? You'd miss out on all those brilliant insults! Or does she still insult other party members after reforming her ways?

The biggest reason for me is that I'm playing a neutral good character. I fshe stays evil I can't get a high reputation without her moaning all the time. I'll do anything for a peacefull life.

The problem is that all the BG games seem to be biased towards good characters. You can't help but earn reputation points if you want to gain experience, and evil characters with low reputations are penalised by having to pay more for items (regardless of whether the merchant knows who you are 'by reputation'). Of course you could just steal most of the time - but a lot of the best merchants won't allow stealing, and low reputations seem to get you caught more often.

Also, even if your character IS evil, people still talk about the 'good' deeds you've done in the past. If I were to design a game like this (and I've just started making my own items for the game) I'd have set experience to reflect a PC's alignment. Good characters earn more xp doing good things, and evil characters earn more xp doing evil things. Also, I'd have made good and evil merchants, with prices set according to how far your PC's reputation is from that of the merchant. But then that's just me. :)

If you have Viconia in your party after leaving the Underdark, she has to swear alligiance to you or risk death, so I suppose even if she complains a lot about your high reputation she probably won't leave anyway (unlike in the original BG, where she stormed off once your reputation got too high - the last straw was when I rescued a little girls cat). I've got my PC's reputation up to 20 in ToB, and she hasn't threatened to leave yet (although both Viconia and Jaheira seem to take turns berating me).

One tactic is to turn into the Slayer whenever she starts to complain too much. Since there isn't much you'll need to buy in ToB from merchants (you'll mostly be paying Cespinar), a high reputation doesn't seem all that crucial.

For me I would have good and evil xp both the same, unless one path requires more effort or sacrifice (then again, usually the good path entails so). In addition the evil path should provide some sort of extra benefit that the good path doesn't, like some new (and worth it) item or advantage etc, because that's why people commit crimes in the first place. I don't see the real use in having an evil option, having evil personas stick to the evil path just because its evil, even though there's absolutely no benefit in taking it. Evil is evil, but not stupid.

My character's a paladin and I am in romance with Viconia too.I think she shifts her aligment if u re playing an evil charecter too.Because in high cleric levels she gains level 7 priest spells only can be casted by evil clerics.besides that she took a ring that's used by Talos priests. If she shiftes to lawful good or another aligment how could she use her proporties. She asked me the same questions too and when I say she must go on she suddenly had rejected it.I dont know maybe u must rest sometimes and move ur charecters somewhere to see diologe screens.I didnt try cuz I wanted to finish game immediatily.

How? Paladins are humans, and if I remember correctly, Viconia won't romance anyone but an elf or half-elf.

I suppose so... But in my current game, she once asked my human character how beautifull he thought she was. I replied that her beauty was only marred by the ugliness that she treats people with, ans she answered by first sayins something like 'if you'd have been treated like I have, you'd be no different', and then something about how she never would be interested in a 'wide-eyed goon' or something. I believe this refers to a human, no? Ah well, next time I wanna romance her, I'll just pick a half-elf to be sure. :)

If she broke the romance with you, it was more to do with your answer than your race. She might throw in a racial slurr as part of her dialogue, but the fact that you are human has no bearing one her breaking the romance. She's just being nasty ;)

don´t forget that evil characters can kill everyone in the game without really losin reputation. not that it brings you any further when you kill everyone. but, it´s nice to see the guy dead when he paid you too less. wuhaha

There comes a point in Throne of Bhaal, when she confronts you about fighting. And asks you if you enjoy killing. If you say no and that it's horrible. She'll change. If you say you like it, she'll remain evil :D
