In the "Interlude" Excavated Ruins.

There is apparently a secret room with a machine in it.

How the hell do you get to find it and get in???

This is in SoU - right?

Well - I can't say presicely - because I don't know what area in Excavated Ruins you are adressing - but most likely there is a secret door you have overseen.

Try using detect mode and taking it slow around the walls leading to the area. I don't recall any of the hidden doors being that difficult to find even with low Spot-skill.

Otherwise - try taking a look at the walkthrough for the area, and posting here what area it is - and I'll try to see if I can be more specific for you.

Yes I'm sorry it is in SoU.

I shall continue to look. What gets me is there doesn't seem to be any indication that they are there, except one and this is where the fallen rocks are. It indicates that there is an entrance, but I haven't worked it out yet, but I refuse to give in.

I'm still not sure what part of the map this should be in, but I've looked into it a little in the toolset

If it is a room in the south part all the way to the bottom and a little right on the map - then I think it is an area you aren't supposed to access. There were some treasure chests whichs description said that the player should never be able to reach them. So it seems to be a game-mechanics room of some sort, so just continue your adventure

As you said previously, I looked at the walkthrough and the map for that section showed two rooms to the SE without doors, and of course as I said there was a section close by down in the South that I kept getting an indication that there was an entrance. No worries we wont let a little thing like that worry us.

If you're in the place I think you are, you CAN get into those rooms. There's a secret door in the hallway that leads into the south room. You'll run into some basilisks and a petrified sphynx. Turn the sphynx to flesh and talk to him to get some info on the machine, then go use the machine in the other room and use the reagents to create a very nice magical stone. Sorry if this is too late for your game...

That room is accessible, yes - but not the room I mentioned.
Although I'm still not sure which room, or what area in the ruins, the original post concerns (South - east - west - north etc)

I have found those two rooms thanks, and am now investigating another on the eastern side. I have in the meantime passed into Chapter two. Will report how I get on
