Aribeth's Ring (SPOILER)

highlight to read:
I can't seem to get Aribeth's ring in Ch 2, no matter how hard I tried to speak with her. Instead, I got Aarin's Amulet when I speak with him. He's also more willing to share his story with me than Aribeth.
Will I be able to convert Aribeth without killing her later without her ring? Can I just buy the ring and use it instead? What can I do with Aarin's Amulet?
Is this happening b'cos my char is female?

You get the ring as part of the romance, and Aribeth's not a lesbian so it is because you are a female. You can convert her back later, but only by making a persuade check or two. You can't buy it and both Aarin's Amulet and Aribeth's Ring serve no purpose but as a record that you have completed the romance with them (though they might have some magical abilities).

The only reason you need the ring is to get her to turn herself in after you beat the crap out of her in Ch4...
If you have a good persuade and/or are a sorceror, bard, Pally (Charisma classes) you can just persuade her instead
There are no romances in NWN anyway so if you were looking for that, erm, sorry to bad try BG or something, maybe HoTU

Is it possible to get the (by cheating or anytihing) back if you lost it?

by Xandax
It is possible yes.
What you need is the item-tag for the ring, which can be found using the toolset. I just looked and I think this should be the right one:
aribeth_ring
Then you need to use the console commands/DM commands to spawn the item into the game:
This is done (easiest) by typing in the chatbox - where it says "Talk:" (just above your quickitem shortcuts)
Remember the ## when typing commands in the chatbox.
##DebugMode 1
##dm_spawnitem aribeth_ring
##DebugMode 0
This will spawn in the item under your mouse cursor, so be carefull not to have it placed over a wall or similar.
However ......
if you have gotten the ring before and have lost it somewhere/somehow - then first check the divine pools near where you spawn in using the Stone of Recall. These pools are ment to be a safeguard for loosing plot critical items, and most plot items will be retrivable from thoese pools.
Also - I'm not sure if spawning in the ring will work in regards of the story line, if Aribeth haven't given you the ring once.
Hope this helps.

Did it succeed with the "DebugMode 1" command? Also DebugMode is case sensitive by the way - but I don't know if dm_spawnitem is actually.
Also - did you type in the chat-box or ...?
I just tested in my game, and ##dm_spawnitem worked there.

Is Aribeth's Ring just a plot device? I've seen it listed with the other rings in the equipment section of GameBanshee's site, and there it says Aribeth's Ring gives SR 18. How does one go about getting *that* version of the item?

The ring that you get is just a plot item.
As for the other one - well - I would imagine it is a ring that Aribeth herself is equipped with. You can find Aribeth's info in the toolset, and then check her inventory to see if she is equipped with such a ring.
Then if you can find the ring in the toolset, it will have a "tag" connected to it (a name so to speak), and that "tag" should be typeable in the dm_spawnitem command, just as the other one.
I can check this out at some point - although I've got to go to a meeting soon, so will not be able to do it untill later today.

I've looked for the ring, and allthough I have no problem finding it, I can't really figure out what it is good for, or when (if) it is used.

Although the ring does have this description:
Once the family heirloom of an elven paladin of Tyr, this protective ring was lost with the fall of its owner in combat.
So I thought it would be a ring that Aribeth drops if you kill her in chapter 4. But looking at Aribeths information in the toolset for chapter 4, it dosen't show in her equiptment. So I'm not sure about this theory either - and seeing as I've never killed her myself in chapter 4 (am always playing a rather good guy), I can't verify nor disproove the theory myself.

So for now the ring is a mystery unless somebody else can shed light on it

Well, thanks for the info, anyway. I'd played through the main campaign once as a good guy (and didn't know about Aribeth's Ring then), but went through a second time with an assassin I'd brought from SoU.

So I saved before the fight with Aribeth, then killed her. She leaves behind a sword that only evil paladins can use, and that's it (and it's worthless, too...0GP at all the stores). I reloaded and didn't kill her (it was easy to do with the ring, since I didn't have to persuade her this time), and thought I could kill her in Castle Never's jail, but I couldn't attack her there. I talked to her a bit, thinking maybe the ring would "upgrade" itself, like the henchman items or something, but it didn't.

**Ch4 Spoiler End**
And so the mystery of Aribeth's SR18 Ring continues...

Ring of the Wood Elves
In the Chapter 1 finale, there is a young boy in the storeroom with a surprising amount of magical items for sale. One item is a ring of the Wood Elves. Its description is that it was once owned by Aribeth.
Its attribute is spell resistance, but I can't recall the level right now. It seemed to work pretty well against spellcasters. Perhaps this is the ring?

that is not the only ring of Aribeth, the one that you get from her as a plot device there is a ring of elves that is a rign that Aribeth had use of earlier in her career as a Palidin of Tyr this one has a Spell Resistance (I don't remember the actual number) on it for use against spellcasters. The Elven ring while Aribeths is in no way conected to her ring that she gives you.

But see - the problem is that there are 2 "Aribeth's Rings" in the toolset, which Galvatron noticed. One is the one given out as a plot ring (no abilities), the other with SR 18. Both called "Aribeth's Ring".

This is not the one either.
That is the Ring of Wood Elves with the following description:
As a child, Lady Aribeth de Tylmarande helped to save her home of Thundertree from the spells of a power-hungry Luskan wizard, doing so with the aid of this ring. Crafted by the elves of the Neverwinter Wood and given to her by the ranger Ansal Bloodshoulder, it was once a dear possession of hers... but no longer. On the road to becoming a paladin of Tyr, there have been times when she felt the need to break from her past - to shed certain parts of herself so that the light of the Just God would find her unburdened. For whatever reason, Lady Aribeth no longer chooses to recognize this ring as hers, and it has passed to other hands. Like its former owner, the silver band is graceful and resilient, elegant but with a hidden strength.
The ring Aribeth gives as a plot item to the player when he befriends her is "Aribeth's Ring", with no special abilities and this description:
Lady Aribeth, Paladin of Neverwinter, gave this ring to one of her city's heroes as a token of their friendship. The thick band of gold inlaid with elven figures has a look that is both striking and graceful.
However - as Galvatron noticed there is yet another ring named "Aribeth's Ring" which has SR of 18 and this description:
Once the family heirloom of an elven paladin of Tyr, this protective ring was lost with the fall of its owner in combat.

Aribeths ring
Aribeths ring is an item you can get in the marchant in the docks!
In the disription of the ring it says that Aribeth no longer reconise the ring as hers!
So it is "just another normal" item!
