Improvement Suggestions

Post by MadVlad »

As much as I enjoyed BG and BG2, some things have occurred to me that I think would make these games even better. And, of course, being the thoughtful person I am I'll go ahead and share:

1. Assign some sort of value to the members of the populace that, in conjunction with the wisdom and charisma of the main character, would allow the player to coerce them into an adventuring lifestyle by joining up with the party. In effect, make all people in the game NPC capable, with lesser scripting than the main ones.

2. Not sure, in regards to the above, whether it'd be better to randomize stats or have them set. Perhaps a mix, with populace members having certain criteria to be met with the random rolls. A blacksmith, for example, would have high strength no matter how many times a player tries to coerce him.

3. Allow alignment of NPCs to be mildly changed depending on the wisdom and intelligence of the player character through dialogue.

4. More NPCs. I have replayed this game many times in order to experience it with different groups and dynamics. More is better.

5. Allow escape from cinematics.

6. Allow the player to "order" forged items, with cost related to abilities added to the items. For example, player could walk in to Cromwell's shop and pick "I'd like to special order something" from a menu. Depending on what bonuses and abilities, the cost changes.

For all I know, the above might have been added to ToB, but I haven't picked it up yet. Thanks for readin'.
