Door on main floor of Temple

The door located east of the throne is openable by my rogue, yet we can not enter once the door is open. Anyone know if something was supposed to be there?
Also, upon returning Paida, the Wheel & Wainright's wife in Hommlet, my party was offered some special wooden sheilds as a reward. I was never able to receive them, even when all my party had empty slots in their inventory. I don't need the shields, just wondered if these two things were bugs.

Hi, Grimhellfinger

Yes, these are two of the many bugs.

...don't think these are bugs - think had some reasons not to implement these areas...
...time...
...money...
...for this reason TOEE is the shortest CRPG I have ever played...
...even the add-on BG2:TOB seems to be longer !!!
EDIT: there are other areas where nothing or close to nothing happens - and all are at the end of the game:
- house left of the temple - what's that map for ??!!!
- burnt farmhouse: only an exit from the escape tunnel - where nothing happens also ?!
- ogre caves - just talking to an ogre chief - that's all ?!
- the temple door to nowhere ?!

Well, when an npc says he gives you something, and you don't get it, i consider it a dialouge bug in the least.
The door that goes nowhere could have been "hold portal" locked, like the rest of the unopenable doors in the Temple.
- ogre caves - just talking to an ogre chief - that's all ?!
The ogres are there to fulfill a quest, but after done talking you can still kill them for XP & loot. The quest is still solved.

...paida is definetly a bug,
...and the gnome (who don't want his x-bow and scroll back) also
...but it seems to me that more content was planned and canceled late in the game for some reasons...

Agreed, there seems to be a lot of "loose ends".
