PS. The ease-of-use and tactics mods have also been updated and not just with new translations!

You might want to post about this in the reference sticky thread, too. ;)

Tactics is still listed as having its last update back in October 2002, are you sure it's been updated? And do you know what new things were added in Ease-Of-Use? The readme doesn't seem to have v27 changes listed...

This is an interesting mod, but I generally don't like mods where the new weapons are all purchasable. I prefer to fight (or solve puzzles) for weapons rather than buying them, cash being so abundant fairly early on.

So, if I want magic spears, say, to be more abundant, I just change the item definition for +1 Two-handed swords to +2 spears (or whatever) so that every skeleton warrior has one. This makes the rewards better but also makes the battles tougher. If I wanted an advanced weapon, I would change something like Celestial Fury or Spear of the Unicorn so that you actually have to do a quest to get it. This also has the advantage that you don't get an overwhelming number of magic weapons (well, no more than already exist).

Not that I'm complaining. This still seems like a worthwhile mod, but not very challenging.

I think you can make it quite challenging, actually, by installing the other mods from Weimer, bumping up difficulty to hard and taking all those improved enemies with a small party/solo early on ;)

By making a variety of (some quite expensive actually) uber-weapons available, this mod is a nice complement to the tactics mod by giving you a little edge and allowing you to choose characters and proficiencies more freely. I don't know about you, but knowing I'll have to fight Improved Bodhi/Improved Irenicus/Kuroisan/Pontifex(for the challenge)/Eclipse/Ascension/etc, I tend to make my character choices around those few +5/+6 weapons available by the end of SoA. You got to hit those guys hard if you want to live :) With more weapon options now, character choices won't be as restricted and will make some tactical attempts possible (very) early on (e.g. whole of Watcher's Keep, even the Ritual?)

And besides, most of us love new items, right?

Wow, the new tactics is awesome! I can't wait to fight in the improved DG or against Improved Fire Giants! :D And finally! Resting during the ritual!

(Found my password! Yay! :D )

(Ahem.)

Its a typo regarding tactics, it was updated very recently with improved Faldorn and improved demons...both very nasty, Faldorn being unspeakably unpleasant.

I dig the new mod since it brings me back to IWDII which I thought was very good. He's using mostly items found in IWDII's infamous "heart of fury mode" where all enemies are incredibly tough and deal massive damage. The items therefore are beefed up accordingly. IMHO this makes them way too powerful for BGII. Although if he used the regular mode items then they would be not powerful enough. Badly designed items was one of the biggest drawbacks of IWDII, IMO.
