I'm currently taking a swash/cleric and Haer'dalis through the game. I've read some posts and other text about bosses and I'm starting to get a little antsy...seems like to take those down you need high level mage spells like sequencer, lower mr, time stop, habi az hakims or whatever they're called...and im running practically a two-rogue/cleric tag team through...is it doable...what in the world could Haer-dalis do against a dragon!?

Although I have to say, my tag-team took out the daystar liche and both of em are at lvl 10-11 :)
Not bad, eh? :) Multiple multiple reloads though until I got it right.

Oh and then the tag team took out the liche's double (simulacrum or project image or i dunno what it was) that decided to survive after that...

But dragons...oh my...I couldn't even do that with a full party. Suppose I'll try feeblemind cheesing hehe.

I'm new to BG2(just got it for Christmas), so forgive me if this is a dumb question. Is this 'daystar liche' the one that is in the room past the hidden door in the Crooked Crane in the City Gates area of Athkatla?

Okay. I couldn't beat that dude using all 6 members of my party(PC[Archer], Jaheira, Minsc, Anomen, Aerie, and Viconia(I don't think any of them are above level 10 yet)). I surprised myself with how I did beat him. I sent in an invisible hasted Aerie, had her cast Knock to unlock the chest thingy, grab the items out of it, then run out of the room before she could get attacked. After identifying the sword, I gave it to my PC. I then hasted her and cast various protections on her, then sent her into the room. Alone, she took on the Liche in melee combat with that sword and beat him quite quickly. :)

Does it seem odd to anyone that a battle would be easier with a lone char than with an entire party?

Nope because the idea of groups is to keep everyone alive :) ...and with big hitters like liches, it's real easy to lose someone. And at your level, I don't know if you have any rods of resurrections or anything like that, so if you lose someone they're gone for good. Where as if you go in solo, if you die, you have no choice but to try again. Don't have to reload just because you lost minsc or jaheira or whoever. I just realized im not making any sense. But ok. :)

Actually, I think you are making sense. With a single char, there's also less to worry about. You don't have to worry about getting Aerie to cast this and Viconia to cast that and Minsc to stay out of the way of those.

Once you get to higher levels both of your character will easily defeat dragons by themselves.

The level ups you get so frequently by playing in a 2 person party cancel out the lack of people very quickly. Anyway, by playing with 2 people you can micro manage a lot better. I cleared the first 2 levels of watchers keep with me (theif/mage) and jaheira both at about level 10.

Sending in only one person is often easier when you need to protect against a specific threat. Facing Beholders, for example... can you make 6 people immune to their rays? Probably not, but making only one immune is easy.
