Hey all

i was talking to my friend today and we were talking about the D and D rules 3E and about how it is with Icewind dale 2.

he happened to ask me if there was any repeter crossbows in Icewind dale because he has found them in the D & D rule book but never in a game. so is there one or not??

another which is better a crossbow or a bow, for my rouge to have?

thanx tryst

with 3ed rules in IWD2, the efficiency of repeating crossbows (or any extra attacks weapons, for that matter) is diminished, since the number of attacks is limited to 5/round, which you can achieve by 3/4 of the game in normal mode with a "sniper" build.

the problem with crossbows in IWD2 is that most of them only allow 1 attack/round, (although there are some nice ones that do allow you a full number your BAB is up to, including Rapid Shot feat and Haste)

there are some cool "repeating" crossbows, too.

the advice for a rogue char is: GET BOTH! i had a couple of parties through the game, and always had some sort of a "sniper" in them - the rogue being perfect candidate for this. just give him 4 fighter levels or more (the skillpoints will be still plentyfull, just keep your Int high, but you'll do it anyway, right :-) ?) for Specialization in bows and crossbows, Rapid Shot (this feat i turnrd on the moment i started playing and never turned it off untill the end...), and he'll be very effective in both his roles, shooting the most apprpriate ammo at the baddest enemy in combat, and spotting traps and picking locks and pockets out of combat!

crossbows do more damage than bows, and everyone can use them. but the range should be shorter. all 6 party members shooting at once can be devistating to an approaching enemy. there are hotkeys for switching between melee and x-bows. keep slings too for bludgeoning. also there should also be a penalty for firing into melee, but i'm not sure if it happens in idw2. hence precise shot.
