Gust of Wind scroll

I've taken the Golden Skull back to Rufus in Homlet and been told that I can destroy the skull by using four items. Unfortunately, I have everything bar the Gust of Wind scroll. The thing is, I actually had this scroll at one stage but I dropped it somewhere (in the temple somewhere), thinking that it was unimportant, and can't remember where.

The reason that I went back to town in the first place was because I kept getting my ass kicked by Zuggtmoy. The trouble was that each time I summoned a node boss to help out they just stood there staring into space. One of my summoned node allies would defend himself against anything close by, apart from the evil demon herslef, but would also summon Quasit's to attack my spell-casters  . Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

Is there any place that I can buy one of those scrolls? (preferably not in Nulb though, as Otis will leave) My wizard is unable to make one for some reason.

The only in-game gust of wind scroll is the one from the banshee's chest in the temple.

My honey and I have come to realization that scrolls are important and expensive! When ever we come a crossed a scroll we take are time indentifing them and then hang on to them for bit. Then we determine every now and then if a scroll is worth still hanging on too. I beleive it's Burne who sells scrolls and my god are they expensive.! My adivce, you should search around for your lost scroll. It may take sometime, but I bet it would be worth it.

If you dropped the scroll, it's still where you dropped it. Items in TOEE doesn't dissapear if dropped to the ground.

Finding it, however, might take forever if you cant remember where you dropped it. The fact that your wizard cant scribe a copy of it (if he has it in his spellbook) is a BUG. In my first games, (unpatched) i copied it to my spellbook and was mighty irritated that i couldn't make a copy.

But, if you have the C08 patch AND the spell in your book you can make a copy of your own. If your Wizard isn't maxed (lvl 10 ) you can chose to learn this spell your next level, run C08 patch, make a copy of the spell and uninstall co8 if you don't like it.

If your Wiz is lvl 10 i don't think there's much can be done, except some neat tricks against Zuggtmoy. You do of course want to fight her, talking with and winning the game is to dull.

Zuggtmoy will, if your party's boosted, often use 2-3 round to dispell. Use this time to your advantage. Recast a boost like Bless or Bull Str every round and put your fighters in a better position.
Have tour Cleric memorize Meld Into Stone in all lvl 3 Slots, your Druid to if you have a Druid. Have your cleric wield either Fragarach or Scather or both, cast invisibility on him/her, or let him use a potion of it, run right next to Zuggtmoy and cast "Meld Into Stone". This ends the invisibility and the MIS take effect . Now Zuggtmoy wiil pound on you cleric and thats okay, since he's IMMUNE to all damage. Also use Wonnilon's scroll of Command Plants. The rest of your party should now be able to clear the rest of the battle without any summons.

BTW: The Imps summoned from your Node summons attacking you is also a BUG. If you summon a Balor, place it BEHIND Zuggtmoy, or in the middle of all the fungi. It gives a better chance of the Ips working to your advantage.

Good luck :) :) :)

Thanks for the advice everyone, but there does indeed appear to be 2 scrolls of Gust of Wind in the game (I'm playing with the official patch). As all my characters are at level 10, I basically decided to do a crawl through the temple again. I thought that I had explored everywhere in the temple, but came across an area with a Banshee in it, and hence discovered the scroll.

For the life of me though, I can't remember where I got it from.

Nope, there's only 1.

I went through the whole game with the sole intention of finding EVERY scroll there was, including loot. Other forum members made me aware of the fact that some enemy spellcasters also have spellbooks, and all of our findings were included in the 'Complete Spell List for TOEE' thread.

If you ever find a scroll of 'Gust Of Wind' elsewhere, be kind to let me know. :)

You still should consider fighting Zuggtmoy WITH the skull in your possession, as it is so much more fun (and harder, of course!)

Into the Fray :) :)

Well, I guess that there's 2 things to try and prove that I'm not "mistaken":

1. I trudge around the dungeon/gameworld (i'm almost certain that I left it in one of the lower levels of the dungeon) and send you my gamesave when I've found it.

2. I send you my gamesave and you can try and find it yourself.

As far as using the Golden Skull in the final fight is concerned, my summoned creatures wont attack Zuggtmoy. One of the node bosses (Hezrou, I think he's called) ends up summoning quasits against my spell casters whilst he's still my ally, so he's kind of pointless in bringing along for the ride.

I surrender. :)

Of course there could be more than one....

So as for statement 1 & 2, don't bother.
Let's play the game and have fun. :)

Onwards, For Victory :) :) :)

I'm relieved to hear that :) . After all, there's practically no-one left alive in the temple so traversing its passages whilst foraging through interminable piles of spoils would have been a daunting, lonely and tedious affair.

At any rate, I finally defeated Zuggtmoy in combat. It was definitely a tricky battle at times but I didn't find it quite as difficult as fighting the Balor at the fire node. However, I might reload an earlier save where I still had the Skull and try and defeat her again.
