Jan's quest - help!

Jan wants help with his sick girlfriend, but when I return to his home (I've done this repeatedly), she isn't there. Now, he is threatening to leave the party unless we return to his home. What trigger did I miss?

Strange, when i went to the house he talked with couple of his (cousins?) and then with his mother IIRC then he goes to upstairs with you...

@Locke's got it right. You need to speak first with Jan's mom. She then directs you to talk with his old flame, on the second floor, followed by his grandpa, in the basement.
