NiGHTMARE's NPC Beautification Pack Released!

Being the underpaid modder that I am, I recently took on a second job and began moonlighting for The Gibberlings Three. Since CamDawg is also a tyrant, I was ordered to release *something* to maintain a worthwhile status. Thus, the NPC Beautification Pack was born. :)

Recently, NiGHTMARE overhauled all of the NPC portraits for BG2. Scars were healed, tattoos removed, and piercings were subdued. Glamor Shots is quite strict, it seems.

So, now you, too, can enjoy the airbrushed Athkatla gang via the ease of a WeiDU installer.

hey those battle scars are a symbol of pride from many hard fought battles... ;)

Jeheira looks HOT!!!! :D

EDIT:
i saw on the same site there is a NPC kit mod and on there it said adventurer. this is PERFECT for my char, i do not have anything in any other skill but open locks and move silently. is there any way to apply this kit to my char?
ADVENTURER: A jack-of-all-trades, not so much a thief as a character who takes advantage of the general thiefly skills on adventures. An Adventurer is preferred by many adventuring parties, because he is much less likely than other thieves to betray or steal from his own companions. The successful Adventurer knows the value of trust and cooperation, while many a "street thief" has been raised on duplicity and (sometimes literal) backstabbing.
Advantages:
- +20% to Open Locks and Find/Remove Traps

Disadvantages:
- No backstab multiplier

I really like the G3 tweak pack from the same site, especially the Valen/Sola style interactions bit. Means you get to see a lot more dialogues than normal.

If someone writes a mod for it, yes. Otherwise, no.

I gotta say that the alternate Jaheira portrait makes her look pretty hot. I can see her looking that way after the epilogue in TOB, when she's settled down a bit instead of clubbing people's heads in. Nice work!

icelus, thanks for the new portraits. I have a couple of questions, though.

First of all, I don't see any difference in the new portrait for Jaheira in the NPC Beautification Pack. Am I missing something?

Also, I looked at your webpage a couple of days ago and saw the Additional Alternate Portraits. Are they available in a Weidu MOD, or do I need to resize and convert them to a .BMP files myself?

Thanks!

Direct link to the portrait preview isn't working fror some reason Raum. Following the link in Icelus' signature does though...hmm, I can't see a lot of difference either.

The new portrait of Jaheira that is included under "Additional Alternate Portraits" (next to new portraits of Aerie, Imoen, Minsc/Boo, and the half-orc PC) is VERY nice. I plan to use it from now on. I might even use it for a PC. :) However, I meant that I don't see any difference in Jaheira's "new" portrait in the NPC Beautification Pack. In all of the other portraits, scars are removed or subdued and armor is "repaired", but Jaheira still has scars and dents in her armor.

The more I look at the new portraits, the more I'm amazed. I must confess that I never really noticed how scarred and grungy the NPCs looked until I saw how the beautified portraits. Now Minsc really can say, "The face I have is the face the ladies love!" :)

Boo loves Minsc's face, too. Don't you Boo?

The bald guy in plate mail from the first game? That's really strange, I never thought of him being a half orc. Aren't they supposed to be green?

To be honest, I can't remember who exactly was included in the "Additional Alternate Portraits" set, since I looked at so many sets of portraits that day. Two different sets featured Minsc with a beard, there were two different "Blonde Imoen"'s, there were several different pictures of Aerie, and there were two different sets that had combinations of NPCs (such as a cross between Aerie and Mazzy), one of which was called "Frightening Children" or something like that.

Come to think of it, the heavyset bald PC from BG1 (dressed in platemail) might have appeared in the "Additional Alternate Portraits" instead of the half-orc PC portrait I was thinking of. I think that a new portrait of Aerie was on the left side and a new portrait of Minsc/Boo (with a large Boo holding Minsc instead of vice-versa) was on the right side. There were two new portraits of Imoen, one with orangy-red hair and one with pinkish-red hair, and of course, the new portrait of Jaheira.

I'm sorry, but I don't have the link so I couldn't check it out for myself.

@VonD. Ah right. I just thought it (mildly) interesting that you'd perceived the bald guy as a half orc. But you didn't. So nevermind.

(And no, I'm not a big bald guy who gets followed by chants of 'half orc, half orc, half orc' from local urchins where ever I go :D )

Ah. I thought it (mildly) interesting that you might be one of those. But you aren't. So nevermind. :)

Nah, not me. Excuse me now, I've got to go and get my head buffed.

I agree that the characters look pretty dirty and grungy but I personally like that effect. I think the artists did too. After all, look at what they go through! You can't go through that many battles without a scar here and there. Still though, with all the rampant healing magic, you think they could easily remove all the blemishes, etc.

About the good-looking Jaheira, when I downloaded the set, those bottom portraits weren't in it. Do I just save the actual thumbnails or what? Or am I wrong and are those portraits actually in the set?
