Ok this is probably a dumb question, but i just found a wand of chain lightning and i cant get it to work.I have it on my wizard and when she trys to use it it shows 12 charges and i try to target the monsters but the spell never goes off. a green bubble appears over her portrait and says "target these only 0/12" but i cant get it to say anything but 0/12. sigh so if this is a retarded question forgive me but please help me i need to use this wand to get past a rough part.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people

(and no I'm not saying your stupid)
Chain lightning does not work like a normal lightning spell/wand. The 0/12 means you've chosen 0 targets out of a possible 12. After casting the spell, you have to click on the enemies you want it to effect, up to 12. all your 'targets' need to be within 10 feet of the target before it, if memory serves.
So that 12 you see isn't the number of charges on the wand it's the number of possible targets.
Oh and you can only choose a target once.

but does there have to be 12 mobs? i mean say theres a group of 5 mobs all close together and i choose the wand and then target each one by one with left click till all 5 are targeted then what? the spell doesnt go off
![Frown :(](./images/smilies/)
on the main screen they all are targeted and the little wand cursor says 5/12 but the green bubble over my wizards portrait still says 0/12

i dont understand any ideas?

I'm going to have to open up an old game file, cuz I can't quite remember how they do it in the game. I know that once you have chosen all your targets there is something to click. It will then tell you you have only chosen 5/12 targets, and ask you if you want to cast it anyway and you say yes.

I'm assuming this works the same as casting "Haste" on your own party. If so, clicking on the green bubble should end your selection of targets.
I've had errors when Haste would not let me select certain characters who should have been eligible for the spell. Sometimes, clicking on the character portrait instead of the actual character sprite worked to fix that. I've also had situations where nothing seemed to fix it. I would skip the spellcasters turn, and when his/her turn came around again they cast the spell with no problems. I don't know if any of this helps, but I hope so.
Good luck.

Ok, it's the green globe over you spellcasters portrait. Click on that and it should work. If it doens't it's probably a bug. Make sure you've got at least the first patch installed. I'd also install the Co8 patch, just to be sure.

The spell "Good Hope" effects the same way. I just wish its animation effect would end when it does.

Select the targets 1 up through 12, if for instance you've only 5 targets hit the space key when you're done and the wand will fire off the spell.
