What do you do when you get bored of the game? Mind you, this is not a criticism of Morrowind itself, this is a personal problem. I have a tendency to never finish my games (or my reports at work - but that's a different problem). I have never finished the first Icewind Dale, I've started BG2 many times and have come close to completing it but not quite, and I only just started ToB. These are all excellent games. I forced myself to finish IWD2, and it was a struggle to finish up the single-player game in NWN (the expansions were both short enough that I didn't have a problem finishing them). I did finish BG and TotSC a long time ago, but only once even though I started many characters.

In Morrowind, I like to start new characters, play them for a bit, and then by the time they've been cured of Corprus they get too powerful. After that, it all becomes a matter of completing the rote quests for the various factions I've joined and trying to continue the main quest along the way. Ho-hum. I've completed both expansions with different characters because they offered some interesting settings and challenges.

But now I'm bored again. I'm thinking of starting a new character and only working on the main quest as much as possible to see how low a character could make it through. I've never added any mods to my game. Maybe that would spark my interest? But since I only play in 1st person mode, I don't really need mods that make my character better looking (or nude ) or with more colorful armor.

What is your advice?

Thats how it is for me. Morrowind was one of the very few games i've finished. Anyways, my advice is to add as many mods as you can and start the game over again. Its always more fun when your first starting off. I've added probly 40 mods, and I'm playin it again with full vim and vigor. Its fun and exciting all over again. Thats what I'de do.

I know what you mean, I have a habit of restarting the games I play with various characters.
There are some pretty good mods out there, some make the game more difficult by adding creatures like giants or dragons to the game I intend to try them when my character is at a slightly higher level.

I'm wondering if there is an ideal order in which to play the game. I tend to tackle the guild quests first and then the main story line.

I have also just joined the Imperial Cult and I think their higher level quests ought to be quite good. I figure if I can't be entirely virtuous in RL I'm at least going to try stepping out of character and attempt it in Morrowind; maybe this will help keep the game interesting as well, I mean I even joined House Redoran

What do the dragons and giants look like? Does anyone have any screenshots?

The giants look the same as normal NPC's only 2 times the size of them. I'll make a shot of one if I see one, and I will make a shot of dragon too. If I don't forget to.

I had the same problem and I solved it by making the game more challenging.
First of all: play the game with the highest difficulty.
Then you could try mods like More Morrowind II.
Describtion:
"It extends your character's playable lifespan in Vvardenfell by either 2x, 3x, or 4x. That means the time you spent before getting to level 30 will take considerably longer depending on which ESP you choose. It makes it so skills progress much slower than they used to. I made this mod after spending less than 30 hours in-game and reaching 25th level, which I thought was way too fast. Anyone who reaches 50th or higher with one of these mods installed (and without cheating) really knows Morrowind well.

Chances are you'll find yourself celebrating now when you level up, as it'll happen a lot less often. You'll have much more time to simply wander and play the game without worrying about it ending anytime soon, and you shouldn't have to worry about being too powerful (and you may find you have more coin for your level now). Slower leveling will also give you more time to adjust the difficulty setting in Morrowind to your liking.

You loose none of the content that Morrowind provides by using this Mod. It simply tries to give you more game to play, more time to wander and adventure before your character "grows up". Details on all of the modifications it makes can be found below.

That mod's really great. I'm using the 2x esp and and it's really hard to level up. I made the first Blade, Fighters Guild and Thieves Guild Quests until I reached level 3 or 4.

The next mod you should try out is "Blood and Gore". Yes, it adds gore to the game. But it also adds fire-, frost-, and shock-effects to victims who suffer from these kind of damages. AND fire hurts now...or at least causes fire-damage. ( I'm not sure if this is part of the "Blood and Gore" mod, but I guess it is...if not..."Fire Hurts" should be the name)
Rouges 1.51 ( or another, maybe newer version) is also a mod I can't play without anymore. I really love to be attacked by these rouge vampires in vivec during nighttime...makes you stay in an inn at night...
Then I'd play around with various armor/weapon balancing mods. There are many, many, many of them...
Some other good mods are "NightTimeDoorLocks" ( or something like that...), "DodgeMod", anything which makes being a thiefe harder...

Alright, enough mods. Let's come to the next level of hardcore-gaming
Only take what you really need. Hey, really, how realistic is it if someone enters a house and takes the whole furniture in order to sell it for a couple of coins? Alright, that's what I did or didn't do at the beginning of the game...now...with my level 7 character...I'm really in the need of money. The 'More Morrowind II' mod raises the prices for training. Believe me, you really need much money, which means, that the first time in Morrowind money is something important... ( 100 coins for finishing a quest? YIPIIIE!!! I'M RICH!!!)

Monolith's absolutely correct. There are nearly 4000 mods out there and available, now, and whille many deal with such matters as textures, new class choices, and houses, there are others that add as many as 40 quests, entirely new factions, new cities, new stores, and ramped up difficulty. Consider Super Adventurers 3.0, which changes a bunch of things and adds some more difficult encounters. Also take a look at Giants, which *really* increases difficulty by adding dragons, giants, etc, and without regard to your level. Morrowind Summit and Gamers Roam are good places to check out the mods, but you can always ask specific questions here, and we'll try to help.

Super Adventurers makes the game somehow easier...that's what I've experienced. That's why I've been searching for mods which deal with the same aspects but make them more difficult for quite a long time now...More Morrowind II is the best mod I found...

Yes, Super Adventurer adds these difficult encounters, but there are seperate mods which do the same...I mentioned rouges 1.51 in my previous post...exactly what it does. You can find for every aspect an own mod. ( alright, I know, Super Adventurer melted all the mods to one, but I don't like the gameplay changes they made. Not difficult enough )

*Seducers - Seducers are leather-clad Daedra-vixens like the ones in Daggerfall. As beautiful to look at as they are deadly! They will quickly make shredded meat out of you with their expert melee attacks.
*Mystery Creature (for high level players, 35+) - You must find and read "Martyriinn's Journal" (somewhere in the Ashlands wilderness) to find out WHAT they are.

Yes, but one of the main things to put on the said 'rice balls' *is* sashimi (raw fish)

I'm not such a jaded RPG junkie as some of you guys . . .

. . . but I did download the "Sword of Pyrethia" mod and it is FUN and very TOUGH! I'm still trying to get safely through the pirhana room in Nimiclez' basement. And the sharks this modder added are very nasty when you're first starting out!

Okay, I've started adding some mods in order to make the game a little more interesting. I've started with the official plug-ins. I've also started (yet another) new character with a little thought to role playing. She's female for a change, and an Imperial who specializes in Conjuration (also Blunt, Acrobatics, Unarmored, Spear, and Marksman). As an Imperial, she is loyal to the throne and has joined with the Cult and the Legion. She doesn't expect to have an easy ride in those factions, especially the Legion since she is not much of a fighter, but she'll do anything for any group with the word "Imperial" in their name. This includes trying to excel in the Blades quests, since it was the Emperor himself who pulled her out of prison and chose her for that mission. She's rather exasperated with the natives of Morrowind as well, and would like to see the whole place developed as one big Caldera-style town. Those dumb Ashlanders that attack her on sight get what they deserve.

So far, the little tweaks that the official plug-ins have given have improved the game play enough to keep my interest. A few dragonflies and some swamp noises are just what I needed so far! And the prospect of actually being able to use the Master Index someday adds some interest. And not going the usual Mage/Fighter/Thieves Guilds route is also more interesting. I’m also not going to fixate on money, and will sell everything I get to whoever will buy it. No more reliance on the Creeper for me. Still, I expect I’ll be looking for some more mods pretty soon. But not until I try out a few area-effect arrows!

I am presently midway through the Imperial Cult quests myself, and I have to say I have really enjoyed them, they seem to be slightly more interesting than the usual garden variety errands.

I am a member of House Redoran, and I plan on joining the Imperial Legion once I have acquired more experience with heavy and medium armour and I've completed the Imperial Cult quests... Right now, I don't feel like dealing with the "Where is Your Uniform" line every time I am near an Imperial Shrine.

Like you, I find playing the game this way to be a challenge because my character is presently a magic user, so rising through the ranks of House Redoran and the Imperial Legion will require some hard work!

There's a mod that fixes that you know Dragon Wench. It's called Guard Sweettalk Just search for it on Morrowind Summit

It was exactly the "Where's your uniform" line that caused me to hate the Legion from my first (incomplete) game. I didn't want to wear the chain mail all the time! This time, I designed my character intentionally without the Medium Armor skill (unarmored instead), but she will wear the chain and level up in Medium anyway (increasing her Endurance), while the rest of her remains unarmored (increasing her level).

I am also trying not to purchase skills whenever I can, just to keep her at a lower level longer. Especially not primary or secondary skills.

But being at level 2 while doing the first Legion quest was a bit tough (tougher than it ever had been) because there was no way for her to kill a simple Kwama Warrior! I had to run out of the egg mine the back way just to survive!
