what is jewerly for or how does it work?

rings and necklaces appear to do nothing. Do they do anything?
Most of the Gems and Jewles in the game do nothing but give you some nice coin when you sell them.
If the item such as a ring or necklace is not issued magic something then sell it.
If the item does say magic necklace or magic ring etc. then identify it at any person you barter with for 100gp. Or your wand you made of identify.
I have found out though selling some gems and jewels to people other then the Jewler you get less amount of money.
