What's wrong with the Mercantile skill?

As you get a higher skill, you get charged less for items... but you also charge less yourself hen you sell them. You're supposed to charge more.

I don't know the formula, so I've no idea if there's a "point" at which you ideally make the most from selling and buying. I've heard there is, though.

Mercantile goes in accordance with Personality and Speechcraft. If you have high amounts of points in all of these, you can buy stuff really cheap.

Problem is I don't buy stuff as much as sell it.

It makes sense, then, to not even bother with that skill.

Has anyone tried making friends with a merchant, to see if they pay less, as well as charge less, for merchandise> Rather like Mercantile?

Yeah, I have.. I started an Argo the other day and he had absolutely no personality, speechcraft, or mercantile. But I bribed a merchant up to 100 disposition and his prices were significantly lower, but im sure if you had those 3 skills it would be lower still.

Economics is a *****

But I was wondering if he also paid you less for things you sold to him, after raising his disposition.

the offering price is lower but you can haggle for more, that is the bug in mercantile... If they like you: they charge less but offer less instead of charging less and offering more.
