Detect creatures

Post by beornica »

Does anybody here ever use detect creatures? I've been curious for a while as to how it works - I've used it several times, and to me it seems a total placebo. If anyone does use it - what the heck happens so that you know where the "creature" is?

it shows up as a mark on your map, but it is pretty useless...

Ahhh... I see.... we should start a "completely useless spells and potions" thread. A top ten. Detect creatures would be for a certainty in the top three, at least.

actually I used detect enchantments once and it was very useful. it was for one of the Imperial Cult missions where you have to find some staff, and you are only giving "rough" directions to it. It helped me find it. I looked for a long time before I remembered that I had that spell.

detect creatures detects all creatures with a soul, all enemies within radius of effect...highly useful if you're in a cave, low level as enemy detection...

detect magic is useful for quests, where you have to locate a specific magic item...i used in mephisto's cloak mod quests, to locate the magic cloaks, since i had magic shimmer turned off...

detect key is useful in twin lamps quests, since slave collars can only be opened by the key...

all 3 are highly useful... :)
They call me Darth...

You don't, not within the game. There are 3 mods (2, currently available) that let you do this.
