I'm making a top ten list of the most useless spells and potions. I'll be keeping track of what everyone agrees on for the list. Myself, I think detect creature and detect enchantment definitely top the charts, but then there's also fortify luck and stuff like that. Everybody vote!

But you can take it as a potion, as I recall--even if you are (supposedly) paralyzed.

ok spell...use it to distract guards while chameleoned...make into a ranged spell..
its real use is as a spell casting disrupter...it stops mages from casting nasty spells at you...

Fortify Intelligence is perfect cheese. You can use it to create incredibly powerful potions. In fact, one mod, Sri's Alchemy, deliberately eliminates that spell from the game to prevent this.

Aww, come on, blake, I use that all the time when I'm in caverns and mines and stuff. Spells don't weigh anything or burn out; torches do. You just have to have a truly excellent light spell, so you can just cast it once and forget about it.
So far we have: detect creatures, (detect enchantment has turned out to be useFUL) sound, (was cancelled out but i still think it's useless. Hey, it my thread, okay?
) cure paralysis (it's one of those that nobody would ever think to use when they're paralized, anyway) and fortify intelligence. Hmmm... is it useless just because it's kinda cheating?

No cheating involves PC GAMERS AND THEIR DAMN CONSOLE

Well, Fortify Speed is pretty useless. It's difficult enough to maneuver around enemies in melee in tight spaces, and at a distance or from above, you don't have to worry about speed. About the only use I can think of for it is to run away very, very quickly from something you'd rather not deal with.

Lol foritify Speed is fun when you get it fortified for like 20k points or more.. though NEVER make a Levitation spell with a high number like that, the game craps out on you and its a hell of a lot slower than just simply walking from one point to another..
Useless Spell, just so im on topic: Burden, like they're carrying anything anyways, HAH!

As a potion it's good but as a spell it's useless since you can't cast when you are paralysed.

I totally agree with blake; light is totally useless. Night eye is the way to go! If you're sneaking, a light spell will give away your location, while night eye won't. Besides, you get CE night 50 points or so & you never have to worry about shadows ever again!
Speaking of other useful stuff, I think drain attribute is up there. I just absorb attribute instead. Is there a difference between drain & absorb?

Drain leeches the attribute away from your target, but absorb does that and gives it to you. Drain is good, absorb is so much better.

Well, I've used it a few times and quite literally stopped enemies cold in their tracks, it is basically an alternative to paralyse, and an effective one at that. It is especially handy if they are wearing heavy armour, which you can see, so you know how worthwhile it is to cast the spell.

Okay, so that makes seven, in no particular order of uselessness as of yet:
detect creatures
sound
light
cure paralysis
fortify attribute
drain attribute
burden
What about rally humanoid or creature? Has anyone actually ever used it? Or blind?
