Freedom's Reign

I was wondering if anybody had tried this BG2 mod, available from Teambg. There's a review on the website, but aside from gushing over the mod there's scant information (aside from the fact that the reviewer really like the new items...over, and over, and over).

hehe well that is *my* MiniMOD

so i guess i had better answer ;)

basically it does this :

- Adds over 90 new items to the game
- Replaces Creatures throughout the game to hold new weapons
- 2 Completely new stores

hehe it is basically meant to improve the performance of the game, to make you want to experience it all again, i'd suggest checking out the larger quests in the game.

i also suggest starting a new game... but if you'd have gone to my site, and read some stuff you'd have noticed... and if you'd have downloaded it and read the readme... you'd have also realised.

anyway... hope i could help. :D

@Deano99, thanks for your reply. :) Should I take it that your mod is not ToB-compatible, at this point? And does it affect game balance with ToB, if the latter is installed after playing through Freedom's Reign?

And is it compatible with Darkest Day?

Works with ToB like a charm! ;)

i also have a TDD compatible version out already too!

read my site (link above) to find out... but it's easy enough to work out which version you'll need.

enjoy :D

Curiously, I just went to your linked site, took note of the IEES requirement, and tried installing that, first. Repeatedly, I got the following message:

"Error opening file for writing:
C:\windows\system\riched32.dll"

Any idea, offhand, why this should be happening? I've also checked through TeamBG's forum database, and placed this question, there.

fable: do you have the VB6 package installed, IEE is created with Visual Basic 6, therefore you need the program's extension files to run it. You can get the package from from TeamBG.

Someone on TeamBG recommended the same thing, so I downloaded the VB6 files, installed 'em, and tried to run IEES' executable, again. Same problem as before. I could ignore the riched32.dll file and install all the others, which launched the app, but I am a bit concerned that at some point the thing will crash.

I can send you the file if you want.

I think that dll is only needed for the installer. It's probaby Visual Basic's Rich Text Box. You shouldn't need that to play BG (or anything added on to it).

@Sabre, I believe Xyx may well be right. I'll just check things out and get back with you if your offer still stands, later. Thanks. :)

My congrats to anybody who puts so much time into doing very fine work on these excellent games--paid or (as in the case with Deano99 and Kevin Donner) unpaid. IMO, you guys should be working for the development houses. :D

hehe that'd be great, but there are people who are better at this than I.

:D

i just hope you all try Freedoms Reign and give me some feedback on the subject.

i also suggest you all try The Darkest Day. An excellent MOD too.

hehe i'll stop with the advertising already :D

@Deano99, what about the Baldurdash patches? Any compatibility issues, there?
