The New Look

Wow! I was certainly surprised when I clicked into the forums this morning!
Nice clean transition, I haven't seen any bugs so far, and there seem to be some cool, new features. For example, when you click on a member's name, a whole list of options comes up. So great job Buck!
But I have to admit... I feel awfully nostalgic for the old colours.. I liked the black and gold with the unforgettable logo ;)

Thoughts? :)

I think I like the crushed velvet pillows and the ornamental brass latticework with vine and grape clusters best. :)

I really like the new layout and design, it is very classy and it seems to load more quickly as well. But the black and gold just worked better IMO.. They gave more atmosphere to what is essentially a gaming environment... and I just prefer them from an aesthetic perspective as well. Also, the avatars looked better against the black, you could see them more clearly.
In the past, some friends and I have even gone so far as to try replicating the Game Banshee PM look while using hotmail accounts.

What can I say? I just like black ;)

@Fable, lol! :D Now that would definitely be a cool look!
Though we'd have to change the name to something like Satanic Buck's Boudoir

I liked the old color theme better, and prefer avatar and name on left side instead of above post, but otherwise all is good. :)

It doesn't appear as though most of the moderator controls are in place, yet. For example, I can't move or copy threads in those forums where I exercise powers of cursing, maiming, dehydration, etc. Editing is there, but nothing else. Invisible mode also seems to be off in general, even if you toggle it on.

I agree about the gold-and-black look. I preferred it, but I'm sure I can get used to this easily enough.

S'good. Kinda used to black & gold, which made it a little homier, but still, the new interface is sleek. And pretty.

Heh, you need to post at least 10 characters.

And there isn't a good spoiler color any more :(

Well I guess in threads like 'Word Association' that can be circumvented by using *** *** around a word...

I guess it is to prevent completely mindless posts, but in threads like the above it could be a hassle...

That may be a problem ... The "highlight to read" option worked so nicely.

I don't mind the colors - it makes it look a little less like I'm goofing off while reading the forums at work! :D

Hmmmm. Spoiler colors? Let us try a little white, shall we? ;) I wonder if that works....

Well that is true.. they are rather more subtle aren't they :D

Seems to work quite well, lol! I had to actually highlight it to read, even though I could see an outline of letters beforehand. Good idea! :D

Actually, one thing I definitely like is that you can preview your signature. I was just playing with the colours and realised this. The function saves the need to check old posts or make new ones in order to see if the signature works.

What can I say, it certainly takes some time getting used to.
I would prefere the avatar on the left, but maybe that's just because i'm not realy familiar with the new look.

I do think that the old black/gold style looked better, also cause the rest of the GB site looks that way.

Whe will see in a few days how it works out.

PS. upgrading went faster then i though, nice work.

Unfortunately, the white doesn't translate well when quoted! (quotes get a gray background....) ;)

Even in the old color scheme I could sometimes see the spoilers on my good monitor at home. The old posts used to alternate between black and a very dark gray, and the black lettering could be read in the dark gray - but only on my good monitor.

I just noticed something else that will be quite handy. When you click on a user's profile you have the option of finding all of their posts, and all threads started by them. This will make finding specific threads a bit easier.
Though it could lead to a bit of discomfort when it comes to some of those posts or topics we started and would rather forget... :o :D

I thought we could do that before in the old format...?

We could.. but it wasn't as easy...

Though in experimenting with that function I just found out that some older threads seem to have been deleted..... :( Try looking for the DF story... I don't think it is there.... :(

Edit
@Gwally,
Never mind, I just found it, I had it bookmarked in my other browser, here is the link: http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/showt ... adid=11223

It's nice and bright... Doesn't look like the Nine Hell where this place belongs, I think...

Does anyone know why it is that when you look at the members online (on the main GB page), some of them have a little + beside their name? *confused*

Hey! The confused smilie is gone!
And I don't think the bold coding works, I just tried to use it and had to resort to a colour change instead..... which also does not work I just saw...
Hey! The confused smilie is gone!
No, its there, but the question marks are white (remember we had this problem the last time the forum was changed and Nippy had to change the black question marks to white. Looks like we need Nippy to change 'em back.
