sorry if this has already been discovered. (which i'm certain it has)
potential spoiler...
x-box version.
at the entrance to the sandpeople's hide out, at the dune sea, there stand about a half dozen sand people. earlier in the game you are instructed to disguise your team in 'sandpeople cloaks' in order to pass safely. last night, in a fit of bordom, i decided to kill as many sandpeople as i could. if you've tried this before, you know that the sandpeople respawn from just to the right of the sandpeople's entrance. i cut my way through the 6 or so, and then one by one, more sandpeople began to appear. after torching about 10 of the respawns i was attacked by a trio of sand beasts..... they literally ran right up to me after i had finished with the sand people.
i found it odd because i just assumed that the sandpeople would continue to respawn, and that dawning a 'sand cloak' would be the only way to pass.
in the end, i collected a total of 12 gaffi sticks, lots of items from the dead bodies, and 3 or 4 wraid skull plates...not to mention a heck of a lot of carnage.
