a question on Sorceror's attributes

What is the mininum amount of intelligence required for a Sorceror to use ALL magical items (scrolls, wands, etc)?
I am planning on making a sor with 3 dex, 16 con, as low int as needed, maxed wis and char, and as high str as possible.
Because I do not choose Protection from magical energy, I chose to use the belt of inertial barrier. There are gauntlets that boost str and dex. Since there are two cases later in the game that I will have my dex deducted, I choose to dump dex and apply the gauntlets of dexterity. (Although from the Cheese master I learned that spell immunity could save you the dex point in hell).
Is this a bad idea or not?

I don't find a good idea to dump dex..
My personal choice would be max Wis (Wish spell)/dex (19 with elf), 16 Vit, decent Int/Char and the rest Str..
A sorc. doesn't need str. (and there are many items that will enhance it), apart the bere minimum to wear robe and carry a staff and some potions/wands.
Int can be useful to cast from scrolls and for some options of dialogue in the game;
Char. is useful for shopping and some options of dialogue, but there are a lot of items that boost it (included spells).
Vit. is very important (=life, enough said);
Wis. is useful "only" for Wish spell and maybe some dialogue options. If you are planning Wish, get wis as high as possible (if you play solo!)
Dex. always useful, some Ac is always good even if you are protected by spells, at least in SoA, and some Thac0 for ranged weapons (sling, MMM) never hurts, plus there is only one item that boost significantly dex. and is not an easy early quest.

max dex, strength, and wisdom in this order...
you actually want MINIMUM intelligence...the lowest you can get and still remain sorceror..
dex is important for melf minute meteor attacks, str to carry stuff and to increase damage with slings, and wisdom for limited wish and wish...
as long as you have 10 intelligence, you can use items, i think..and its an asset to be dumb as possible as a sorceror...you don't need to learn spells...
as long as you can use wands and items, you're set...now, when you get to 8th level pick maze as one of your spells, and incindiary cloud...when you're surrounded by enemies, load up a chain contingency with maze, inc cloud, inc cloud, target self, see enemy...
you will be instantly mazed, and your incindiary clouds will appear...you're mazed, so you're completely safe from your own clouds, and the stupider you are, the longer you'll be safe, giving the clouds a nice chance to kill off the monsters, and if you're stupid enough, you'll pop back after the cloud dissipates...
keep potions around for those times a high intelligence is needed...

Casting maze on oneself is suicide when soloing...
What does Charisma actually do anyways...except for bargaining and dialogue? I don't want to waste a ring slot for Char.
By casting spell immunity, can you also avoid the attribute drain at Spell Hold?
I want to be able to use powerword:kill and shapechange scrolls without drinking poitions...
Besides, there aren't any good gloves or gauntlets for a pure mage or sor...I'll try it out myself

oh yeah...i forgtot you were planning to go solo...
nope,you can't avoid the attribute drain in spell hold...
you're not going to waste a ring slot for the ring of human influence, cause you only wear the ring for shopping trips, and take it off when you're done...i think you only need 10-12 int for scrolls...but strength and dex are far more important...
and the best gauntlet for sorcs is the bracers of defense ac3, which when combined with high dex and robes of vecna will give you around -4 ac...

Its rather unfortunate that they never patched up the Charisma for the sorceror. Sorceror's are supposed to use Charisma like Mages use Intelligence.
I think that'd be cool, but no matter.

IWD2 works according to the actual 3rd edition D&D rules, so sorcerers use charisma. Loads of fun, too. The peoples loves you so much when you fireballs thems!
