Druid--15th level????

Can someone out there explain the logic of this to me? Why does it take 1.5 million XP to go from 14 to 15th level for a Druid? I do remember that when 15th level is achieved, the spells etc. go up dramatically, but why? Why not make this like other classes? Right now in my party Viconia is lvl 30, Haedalis lvl 29 and the rest in the mid-20s but Jaheira's druid level hasn't budged!

Jaheira level progression is slower cause she needs to level up both on fighter and druid careers. And when she do level up she will gain lots of spells, but I dont remember the exact point it happens, but I call it Ubber Jaheira Place. She gets really usefull as tank and spellcaster.
Answer your question?
Oh, I think Nephtu or some of the others may have better aimed answers to kill your doubts.

I'd have to say the Druid level progression is really messed up .. according to the manual, you reach 15th at 3M, 16th at 3.5M - and 17th at 500K!!!!
From a little testing, the actual progression is 15th at 3M (where you get a ton of spells - including something like 5 7th level spells!), and then add 150K for each level after that (i.e: 16th at 3.15M, 17th at 3.3M, 18th at 3.45M, ...)
So things are definitely buggy with the Druid progression!

Jaheira's level hasn't budged because it takes her a longer time to go up a level than it does some of the others. Not only is she a druid, who take quite a while to level up, but she's also multiclassed, and multiclassed people can take a long time to go up a level. As a point of interest, what's her fighter level?

Yeah, Luther, can you describe your jaheira for us??? Have you tried to hack her?

I believe the question posed isn't why it takes so long for Jaheira to level up, but why is it that Druid have this huge gap between levels period. I agree that druids got the short end of the stick when it comes to advancing - my Totemic Druid was usually five-ten levels behind the rest of the party throughout the entire game simply because of this, and she was single class with only three other party members in her team. I feel they were quite jipped in the game.

I believe the original reason for the Druid's not being able to go past level 14 in SoA was because the designers wanted to be as true to DnD as possible. In DnD, Druids gain mad skillz after level 14, making the class unbalanced. So, when ToB came around, they decided to make up for that huge space with the massive increases in spells and such when you got to 3M exp.

The progression isn't buggy at all, that's the way it's always been in AD&D.
As a matter of fact, after reaching enough experience to reach 15th level, a Druid is supposed to challenge another Druid before reaching that level. In the AD&D world, there are only a certain set number of Druids in the entire world of 15th level and above.
Obviously, these challenges can't be implemented in the game, so Bioware did what they could.

Yes, this is the true question. There is nothing wrong with Jaheira in my party and she has not been hacked. I've been observing her level progression quite closely. I realize she's multi-class which makes it longer for her to advance. But after a ton of power gaming, seeing my other characters advance so fast, having Jaheira stuck on lvl14 is a bit frustrating. Since I don't remember the original 2nd ed. level progression for druids, I can't comment on that, but I'm thinking now that this is just a design decision by the game makers. Hopefully Glenfar's latter comment is correct about her level progression because if not, I don't see her moving too much. Oh, btw, her fighter level is 19. (Her melee skillz are so mad she really doesn't even need druid spells anymore but they are fun to have.

level 14 and level 19... that's quite a difference. I'm kinda suprised. usually when I play, her fighter and druid levels are only one or two levels apart.

They would be very close in the beginning - up until level 14. She actually becomes a level 14 Fighter at the same time she becomes a level 14 Druid. But by the time she becomes a level 15 Druid, she'll be a level 20 Fighter. It does close up a bit again after that though - for example with 9M XP (4.5M in each class), she'd be a level 26 Fighter and level 23 Druid.

Well, for me this point is moot now since I just leveled Jaheira up to 15. That was a long, long journey but what a level up! She hits fighter 20 and druid 15 at the same time. 2 high level abilities, 5 lvl 7 spells, 4, lvl 6, 3 lvl 5, 2 lvl 4. I think this gives her bragging rights as one of the baddest heroes in the land.
