Refresher Course (probably Spoilers)

Well, having just gone through Planescape Torment again, I'm planning to reinstall BG2 with ToB and go through again...and again...and again. What I need though is knowledge that I knew, but forgot in both my absence from playing and my absence from GB for a year. So, a few questions.

About CLUA console, is the line "Debug=1" or "Cheats=1"? IWD is one, BG2 is the other, and I can't remember which. Also, a sample CLUA command would be nice just so I remember.

NPC mods: which ones are very good? balanced? overpowered and cheesy? romances?

Game mods: again, which ones are good? I'm planning on downloading Ascension for ToB, but what does Tactics do? And what is the general consensus on The Darkest Day and the like?

One last thing. After installing, the filename for the override of the Cloak of Reflection (became Deflection in ToB) is something like "clck26" or something, right? Its a rather uberpowerful item, and I enjoy a more balanced game, lets just say I hate that bloody sphere. ;)

In advance, thanks.

Debug =1

Kelsey & chloe are pretty much cheese-free,
Solaufein & Tashi are semi-cheesy
Valen is majour cheese
Don't know any others.

Tactics makes for more challenging encounters - be sure to get the official patch & baldurdash first. I would take Ease-of-Use and Spell-50 (most scaling spells scale up to level 50) with it.

The cloak wiffle ball override is in ease-of-use

Good gaming!

Thanks! :)

A few more questions, though...I've never really gone to extremely high levels, so the Spells-50 is a bit redudent for me (isn't the level cap 40, too?). What does the Ease-of-use mod do?

Also, what about the Nalia and Imoen romances? Are they worthwhile?

Im running imoen romance mod right now and so far I've enjoyed it. haven't rescued imoen yet but there are some instances without her that happen that you'll realize. nalia mod isn't weidu based IIRC so I THINK it will have compatibility issues with other mods unless its said to be compatible in the readme of either of the mods

Well I've used Kelsey and Chloe as far as NPC mods go and they're both great. Every time I don't have a PC Sorceror I use Kelsey(goes well with Jan) just because Sorcerors are just so much better than Mages. And Chloe is well balanced and fun. As to other mods I've just used Darkest Day and that was jsut to check out some of the kits it comes with. And IIRC it's for SOA only.

I'm in the minority, but I completely disagree with this. I've tried playing a Sorcerer twice and never got past level twelve before deciding I hated it too much to go on. You get a much smaller spell library, and I prefer scribing scrolls to expand your power. Worse thing is if you end up selecting some crappy spells in place of useful ones then you're stuck. Then again, I'm a more conservative player anyway, so this is likely why I dislike them so much.

Kelsey was well balanced for an NPC, though I was dissapointed because, of course, of his class. Tashia threw my game a bit too much for enjoyment, and so did Sola, but Wiemer said that the mod likely would anyway. Valen had just *way* too many complications to worry about, being undead and having so many restrictions (Do NOT put her around level 30 cleric who's turning undead. :( ).

The only game-wise mod I played with was Ascention, and in the final battle that frazzled up and completely screwed me over. It's nice, but if you catch it's bugs then you've got a mess to deal with.

I wouldn't do the Imoen Romance again. There was just so much trauma and endless lagging on about topics that seemed out of place (rape, mental torment and scarring, ect.) that I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Nalia's romance is interesting, but it isn't a Wiemer mod, so I noticed a lot of conflicting variables with some of my other mods and had to remove them for the sake of the romance.

Definetely install Ease-Of-Use, Nightmare. It's the best thing to install each component one at a time, though. :)

Alright then, I guess Arnel's version of the Nalia romance was the only to surface (and I did most of it, but it was buggy). I'll probably give Immy's romance a try, though I'll probably download Happy Script to do another one at the same time so if I get annoyed, I'll just cancel it and continue with the other.

I don't really use Kensai's at all, but I do love sorcs. I'll probably give Kelsey a shot, and probably Tashia as well. I might even give Sola another shot (I tried it before), but I'll probably severely edit him with Shadowkeeper like I did the last time I used him (removed the mage bit as it seemed out of place on him, removed his cheesy special abilities, etc.). Judging by what people have said, I'll skip Valen.

As for game mods, I'll probably use Ascension and Ease-Of-Use (though I still have no idea what the latter does ;) ). If TDD is only for SoA, screw it.

Thanks, all. :)

In searching, I found the TDD-ToB, too. I'm unsure about downloading it though...I couldn't care less about the new kits since I won't use them.

As for mods, I've gotten:
-Ascension (not sure if I'll use the harder battles or not, they were too easy and then became WAY TOO HARD last time I used them...Yaga-Shura battle was a nightmare)
-Banter Packs (seems interesting)
-Baldurdash Fixpack (obviously, I remember when it was originally being put together and we were helping Kevin find bugs to fix...)
-Chloe
-Imoen romance (just to try and see)
-Kelsey
-NPC Flirt Pack (seems interesting)
-Tashia (will edit with SK if she's too overpowered)
-Ease-Of-Use (probably won't use most of the stuff, but one or two things I'd like)
-Spells50 (I probably won't install it, because I happen to LIKE my fighters...but hey, maybe)
-Tactics (again, probably won't, for my mental health)

Anything I'm forgetting? Thanks for the help, everyone. :)

you may encounter bugs trying to run banter packs and npcflirt. they both use a form of force talk so they may interfere with each other. also IIRC I remember reading something at the imoen romance mod forum that there's a conflict with it and ease of use, but forget the exact issue.

On the Weidu site, some issues with things were listed, but I think they were mostly with stuff that I won't install from Ease-of-use.

Hmm. If I have to choose between NPC Flirt and Banter, I'll probably pick Banter, since it deals with all the NPCs.
