Hey.
I was entering the Planar sphere and in the begining you are attacked by a golem. BUT I cant kill him, weapon ineffective.. very annoying because I could kill the golem at Umar hills with the same weapons and earlier in the game I killed a golem at Nalia´s .. A bug ? or what to do ?
// Thanks

What weapons are you using, and what is the Golem type.
If it is a Clay Golem, remember that only Blunt magical weapons will hit it. Iron needs +3 weapons. Flesh are vulnerable to most any magical weapons IIRC, and Stone (again IIRC) needs +2 weapons.

Myself has Namarra +2 or what it is
Minsc has a Bastard Sword +1
Valygar has his own sword... dont know the stat.
And Aerie has a sling that does +3 with +1 bullets. still no damage.
It was a clay golem.

what really helps against does golems are melf's minute meteors.
Because the golems can't come to u, because the Iron Golem is to big, make sure u kill the 'little' golems first and then kill the iron golem
* sorry didn't read your post right
but it will work
and it is a tip for later

Stoffe, the weaponry you are describing is useless against clay golems. You need +3 blunt weapons - clubs, staves, maces or war hammers. The weapon must be "crushing".
Your +3 sling acts like +1 weapon with +1 bullets. Do not forget that bows, crossbows and slings act at the same enchant level as their ammo. You would need +3 bullets which do not exist in BG2 but you would be unable to hit the clay golem, either: the sling isn't a crushing weapon.
There are many golems in the Planar Sphere. You cannot pass with your weapons. Leave immediately and get better ones:
a) Staff of Rhynn - a +4 staff. Good against Clay Golems.
b) Blackblood - a +3 club. Again, Clay Golems.
c) Tansheron's Bow - a +3 short bow that fires +3 phantom arrows. Good against Iron and Adamantine Golems.
d) The Enchanted Weapon spell - the spell creates a temporary +3 weapon: mace, short sword, long sword or axe. The mace is important to you in Planar Sphere.
e) Azuredge(?) - even if the description of the axe does not state its enchant level, the posts on this forum say that it is effective against Iron Golems. Therefore, Azuredge must be a +3 perpetual throwing axe at least.
f) Rifthome Axe - a +3 perpetual throwing axe.
Use maces created by Enchanted Weapon spell, Blackblood and Staff of Rhynn against Clay Golems. Use Tansheron's Bow and Azuredge or Rifthome Axe against Iron and Adamantine Golems. The rest of golems should not be a big problem.

If you can caste level 6 priest spells, Conjure Animals will create bears that rip into Golems pretty well. I'm not sure about clay golems, but I usually caste this spell and pound on the Golems with the Flail of Ages. Seems to work pretty well.

I've also had luck using flame blade against clay golems.

Another thought, if you can't caste level 6 priest spells, you may want to hold off on the Planar Sphere. You have to beat a pretty tough demon to get back out after a certain point. My first jaunt into here I ended up going back to an earlier save, and then returned after the underdark.

Can I clear things up a little?
Powerful slings:
Arla's Dragonbane +3:
Damage +3 (missile damage)
THAC0: +3
(found in Umar Hills)
Sling of Avoreen+4
Sonic Boom once per day
Damage:+4 (missile)
THAC0:+4
(found in Beholder area of Underdark)
Sling of Everard+5
does not require bullets
Damage:+4 (missile)
THAC0:+4
(bought from bonus merchant Joluv)
- since it's a non-ammo, must count as +3, but I don't know.
It's correct that there aren't +3 bullets in the game.
Maybe it's a bug, but I've killed clay golems with a heck of a lot more stuff than just clubs and warhammers...
In my opinion easiest way to kill one or two clays is with fire elems/aerial servants. I got both spells just as I started fighting in the sphere, so I guess I got lucky. If you don't have those, I recommend getting them before doing the sphere, but they are not necessary.
