A little problem with chapter six

I've just gotten past the catacombs under Candlekeep, and have just gotten back to Baldur's Gate, but I haven't been confronted by any guards or anything. And nobody's said anything about Scar being asassinated or Duke Elton being ill. I've played through Baldur's Gate before, and this has never happened. I'm pretty sure I've done everything I'm supposed to up until this point. Does anyone know anything about this?

Have you been to Flaming Fist HQ? Something ought to happen there.

I know. It's just, well, I know that after you get back to Baldur's Gate people are supposed to be talking about Duke Elton being sick and Scar being dead, but nobody's said a word about it. And I'm supposed to go to chapter seven around now, but that hasn't happened either. I think I need to go either to the Iron Thron HQ or the Flaming Fist HQ for that to happen, but I'm not sure.

There is a trigger on the ground outside CandleKeep that starts the next chapter. It is near the trees where you exit the catacombs. I have never managed to get past that point without setting off the trigger, but it sounds like that may be what you did. Go back there and wander around and see if the cutscreen plays. Alternatively, if you have a save from before you exited the catacombs, try reloading.

If all else fails, you can force a jump to the next chapter by the following 4-step process (although you may already have done some of these steps previously):
1. Open the baldur.ini file, and under [Game Options] add Cheats=1
***Note there are no spaces!
2. In game, type CTRL-TAB
***This will bring up the CLUA console
3. In the Console type: CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()
***Spelling and capitalization count!
4. After closing the console (another CTRL-TAB will close it) type CTRL-C

Sorry if you already knew some of that, but it always pays to be precise. Hope this helps.
