STR and DEX need them both?

I am confused about dexterity vs strength when leveling up. in stragedy guides Stilgar says that attack rolls are based on dexterity or strength, depending on wich is higher. Does this mean that when levelling up it is the most intelligent choice to put all your attack based points into either strength or dexterity, and not them both?

Well, i think dex is important for evey jedi, cause the jedirobes have a low AC (armor class), so you need the dex for a better AC.
Strengt is only important for jedi's that want to fight with their lightsaber cause then you do more damage.
To summarize:
Strenght: Damage
Dextirity: AC
And the higher one gives you an attack (change to hit) bonus with the lightsaber.
Both are important but a jedi that depends more on the force then on their lightsaber should have less strenght and a higher dex. And the other way around.
Hope this helps!

If going soldier... strength.
If going scout... 14 on both... or roughly that.
If scoundrel... make sure dex is at 16... strength can get by at 10 or 12 depending on what you do for const (which can be 10 or 12 also)... just make sure charisma is at least 14 and wisdom is high also.
Hope that helps.

It is a matter of taste in my oppinion. I've played with both high and low str. soldiers and/or guardians, and have found little difference. Infact - if playing with robes, I almost always have high DEX and low (10) strenght (11 if playing a guardian)
The extra one or two damage bonus one gets for 12 or 14 strenght are really not that important, compared to one or two extra AC in my oppinion.
If I play with armour/vibroblades - then I have low dex (10->14 by end) and high strenght for a slice n' dice machine.

I usually either ignore DEX or ignore STR. If your a guardian I've found that with force jump and some decent equipment you can kill anyone in a single round, so they can't attck you. As a consular, DEX is important as the STR damage bonus isn't as important since you will be using powers.
