How do I fight the red dragon to get the Holy Avenger sword
What do you mean by "how"? How to beat it?
Cast all kinds of boosts: Bless, Chant, Haste, Berserk, Righteous Magic etc. Summons the biggest critters you can, preferably Fire Elementals .If you don't have a druid, you'll have to do with Aerial Servants, these are generally better, but Fire Elementals are immune to fire, which makes them great againt red dragons.
Surround the beast. That way, he won't be able to blow away all of your party members at the same time. You'll have more chance to disrupt his Heals if you keep hitting him.
Oh, and have a lot of healing potions/spells ready.
The 7th level cleric spell Regeneration is does amazing stuff against dragons.
