Skin Murders & Beholder Cave in Underdark

I took the following path: free Hendak and slaves, pay Galean, shadow thief leader, Boddhi stronghold, ship, island, asylum, underwater, depressing underdark, forest. Eventually, reaching the hills, a bastard asked me the blood of a silver dragon and the only one I found back there in underdark helped the group back to the surface and shifted into a mage, leaving his post behind. How can I solve the skin murders then?
Second, in the south tunnels in underdark I got exhausted of fighting so many beholders (up to 8 at the same time) in the south east end of their cave. Was there anything extremely invaluable there not to miss it? (I got the blade of the equalizer + the "eye" at the endtrance)

The leather armour is only useful if you are playing an evil party.Besides,the armour isn't needed to finish the skinner's quest.Just go to Trademeet

Belolder Lair: I know... Well, nothing precious there. The valuable items are all in the north parts of the dungeon: the eye of the beholder and a part of The Equalizer near the entrance, Sling of Arvoreen and the Greenstone Amulet in the niches in the north part of the dungeon.
