The flail is aquired at D'arnies (sp?) keep.
The 3 heads are spread out in the keep - one on the main floor and 2 on the first floor.
For a more detalied description, look at the walkthrough here on gamebanshee.
As for the weapons I would say that your paladin should be able to use the Holy Avenger (2-handed sword) so that is a priority. Besides that, well it is what kind of weapons you like.

Two handed sword will allow you to use Carsomyr. Best sword around IMHO. I also took halberd - Dragon's Bane came in very useful against Firkraag.

Two Handed Sword = use of Holy Avenger Carsomyr +5, a paladin only weapon.
As a paladin kit you can use it.
The fail of ages requires you to find the heads od the fail, their are hidden inside the de´Armise keep, after having all of the heads head for the forge (keep looking for secret doors and dont go down stairs to fight the Troll before you got the fail)

if your not going to use carsomyr for your pally, you could have him dual wield katannas and warhammers for eventual crom faeyr and celestial fury, halberds are cool too, dragon bane until underdark, where you can get the dragons breath automatically (mmmm, 4 kinds of damage, even more than flail of ages!)and theres always the wave. really theres no end to good weapon combos for a fighter type.

Best combo for Cavaliers and Inquisitors, IMO:
** 2-handed sword (Carsomyr)
** 2-handed weapon style (adds damage, makes 19 a crit. hit, and lowers Carsomyr's speed factor to 1)
** mace (Mace of Disruption +2, not as important for Undead Hunters because of immunity to level drain, but you need a blunt weapon and this is very useful against pesky vampires and other undead. If you are playing an Undead Hunter, the put ** in quarter staff--Staff of Rynn--to take advantage of style bonuses)
***Put any remaining points in warhammer (hammer of thunderbolts/Crom Fayr) and single-weapon style, giving you a great weapon and AC bonus to fight all those golems in Chap. 7.
IMHO, to have a paladin use any ranged weapon is an act of unconscionable wussiness.

i put skills for all 3 options actually, cos you'll need blunt weapons to kill golems, and the flail of ages is by far the best weapon you could get in early stages, i couldn't found one better untill foing to underdark and finished some high encounter quests. and afer killing the red dragon the holy averager is very effective, but "most" ppl won't get it til very late.

try dualing two weapons *** in two weaoon style ** flail ** blem ** two handed sword
my solo paladin can kill much faster with two weapons. and his got such good saving throws maybe he does'nt need that 5+ sword.
although the frist time around i did use it.
so if you have'nt than you might want too all the same. If you do go for the big boy than get a long bow, has well, **two handed sword, ** flail, ** bow ,** two handed weapom style, * in long sword or hammer. If you want a troll killing weapon before you get the flail of ages, go to the sewers in the temple district and get the wyevern's tail,5 points of poison damage they can save
but it does work. yours rowdin.

I've had great success with my Cavalier with proficiencies in two-handed swords (the Holy Avenger really is awesome), halberds, and AXES! Yes, axes. Cavaliers cannot use missile weapons, but the can throw axes. Comes in handy sometimes.

The list is too long to me to post, most of the good weapons and armor are in the Adventurer´s Mart, also there is a fight in the Dale of the Seven Vails inn that have good things to get but its not a easy fight.
Bezerker or Barbarian....
both have good points but Barbarian do have more good points, its hard to say on is better that the other, I use a Elven F/M that is very powerful but I do have a powerful charather that I imported from BG I. its best to see both advantages/disadvantages and see what works best.

lower resist, sequenced magic missiles, dispel magics, breach, and summoned creatures (not wimpy ones-wyvern call or something like that-also nishruu could be could for negating his spells)-if you have all these you can kill him.

Yes, in trademeet you can find several good armors to buy, one of the best armors chain armor is on Ulmar hills quest.
The Adventurer´s Mart + 1 and +2 chain mails to buy.
The red dragon scales is stange, its says scale so it can be plate or splint mail since it does not really say (strange since you can use rings of protection with it worn, something that "normal" + armors dont allow).

right above gaelan bayles home is a shadow thief fence with several +1 weapons and a few magical armors, although the adventurers mart is the best bet.
