My main character is a Ranger and I just got done with the planar sphere. I wanted to do the part about sending the knights back to their own relm but i found i could not they just said they would have to make do hear on Farun... do you have to have a mage protagonist to send them back or did i not do something correctly? its not really a big deal i don't think the Golden gerdle is anything speacial anyway but i would have liked to get the XP... Thank fellow adventurers

Yep, you have to be the mage and accept the Sphere as your stronghold to send the knights back......kinda sucks I know.
ah well

Are you sure, @Krimmy? The opportunity to send 'em back via magic express is keyed to speaking with the Knights after you've liberated the Sphere. Once you do that, you can go back to the Adventurer's Mart, and the owner should offer you an option to buy the services of a mage who can handle the task. I've never seen a limitation on having a PC mage in order to make it work.

No, but I've played the damn game through so often that I sometimes confuse the game where I played a mage, sorc, or kensai/mage, and those in which I played a kensai/thief.

Ha! You know you've put too many hours into a game when you can no longer differentiate between your characters. Soon enough the boundries between Faerun and reality will fall, and that's when you'll really need to seek therapy.
"I swear, officer! I thought that pharmacist was actually a fiendish Rakshasa! The Dao must be appeased or they won't leave!"

@oiledbadmofo:
If you're not a sorceror, you can do nothing about the Knights.
And I think the Golden Girdle is used along with other staff for forging Crom Fayer. If I'm mistaken, please correct me. Yet, I don't remember where else you can look for it, if you don't receive it as a reward for sending the Knights home.

Crom Faeyr
What's Needed & Location(s)
Crom Faeyr Scroll - Loot from Thaxll'ssillyia himself in the Temple Ruins dungeon
Hammer of Thunderbolts - Found in the Mind Flayer area of the Athkatla Sewers in the last room
Gauntlets of Ogre Power - Loot from Entu, the halfling warrior, on the first level of the Planar Sphere
Girdle of Frost Giant Strength - Loot from one of the Demon Knights in the Kuo-Toa area of the Underdark
10,000 Gold Pieces
nothing to do with golden girdle

yes, but if your pc is a little over weight, and has love handles, and jahiera wont sleep with you anymore, the golden girdle is more important than just another stinking hammer

Apparently, I messed it up with the girdles. Thanks for the correction.

i was wondering if u don't decide to send the knights back home, will u ever meet up with them again later in the game?

you don't.
hmm, i wonder if i can kill or pickpocket em for the girdle. it would be worth the faction hit and i'm pretty sure i could take em.

when u kill the knights they don't drop anything good except a peirce magic scroll. that's about it. you also get the usual necklace or gold and their weapon and armor. i think their armor is AC 1 so it might be worth it if you like the knights and don't care for the xp and the girdle.

i wanted to bring this post back up since i'm at the part where you hvae to send the knights in the planar sphere bakc home.
i didn't understand if you could or you couldn't but can u actually send them back with out you being a mage or sorcerer. cuz i want that golden girdle. it sounds nice. and if i can't what should i do about the knights? should i kill them for the xp or talk to them and let them work for the radiant heart?

I don't think you can do anything with the Knights if you're not a mage/sorcerer - not really sure though, but I think they dissappear after you complete the Sphere if you're not a mage/sorcerer.
Edit - Just went through the game to check it, the Knights don't dissappear but you do not get the do anything to help them either.
