What's the logo supposed to symbolize?

Post by Xyx »

I'm talking about the Shadows of Amn logo with the two heads here.

I originally thought it had something to with the Bhaal essence. Light side up, dark side below.

Quitch suggested that it was Elves up, Drow below.

Anybody else?

It could also be of reference to ying and yang, there is always a bit of (in this case) bad in the good and vice versa.

After all if you play the good path you still mutate into the Slayer. If you are playing the selfish/bad campaign then you do in some instances have to be good.

I suppose it symbolizes the two sides of your PC. The Bhaalside and the mortal side.

The plot just happens to focus around the elves and the drow, and the logo just happens to be a white face on top (surface) and black below (underdark).

Coincidence? I don't think so.

I'm with Quitch and it IS the logo for Shadows of Amn. Those shadows being related to SPOILERS ->

A very dumb decision by the elves to banish Jonelith to the human realm in Amn.

The slavers in Amn.

The fact the very first decension of the dark elves occurred in Amn.

The original Baldurs gate logos and the Throne of Bhaal logos have much more in common with each other because the Bhaal side of things is more central to the plot - Sarevok and then the complete Bhaal spawn thing.

Or am I wrong - Curdis

Spock on top and Tuvok on the bottom? ;)

I agree with the Elf on top, Drow on bottom idea. Either that, or human on top and Drow on bottom, but the surface elf would make more sense.

Actually, I think the two headed symbol is Waukeen's, the patron goddess of commerce. Athkatla is the city of coin after all.

You guys got it all wrong! It is what a man look like during the day (up) and during the night (dark). :D

Well, it is obvious that it is elves and drows, although the people sort of resemble the Amn soldiers in BG1...

*spoilerish*

I always thought that the heads were Ellisime, the queen (I think) of the elven City of Suldanesslar. Jon Irenicus was in love with her, and she is the woman that the clones are made of waaaaay back in the first dungeon in SoA.
