when i went to the temple district after underdark i sent my assassin alone into the githyankis and talked to them, then when the cutscene started, he just stood there. nothing happened. i tried it again with my whole party and it worked but i died. is there a patch for this or do i just have to commit mass suicide and let them beat me ....less? :confused:

@elusive_knight,

You could be nice and give them their sword back....or,

It is just a hard fight, turn the difficulty all the way down if you want to rule their skanky hides.

btw they show up anywhere (the encounter is on a game timer) - Curdis

Try focusing at one ennemy at the time, starting with the ennemy spell casters. Use lots of protections spells, haste and so on before the battle.

well, first ime i did underdark, I had very strictly never cast spells in the streets, so I wond battle with low level chars just gulping potions like crazy. cloud giant and storm giant for fihgters, mages used missile weps.

Just use your assasin to kill em all. all ya need is Celestial Fury and as many invis potions that you can steal. Backstab, invis, count to 6sec for round end, backstab, invis....I know you hate it when the comp does it to you, just do it to them back. And you'll be alot better at it.

Item heavy solution i know, but with a thief money should be the least of your worries. if he's high enough to Use any item just have him cast a simmy with scroll or helm and use that to kill em.

Or you could just send in one char and have him run away. It'll spread em out and will always leave the spell slingers outa that fight.

The first time I had to deal with this encounter was on the city streets of the slums district. No mage spells. The fight was crazy. Get some summons up quickly to even the numbers. If you're on a city street (temple included), the local guard should join to help you if you're of good alignment (not sure about the good alignment part). Use the local guard to position yourself behind them (yeah, good alignment using the local guard as shields, oh well)

Once you've got even numbers, put your best fighters on the spellcasters and take the rest on one on one. True sight will help also as a lot of the giths use invisibility. The one thing that works to your advantage is the giths have low HP's.

Good luck.

I dove behind the ref once at paintball for cover and he got shot!!!
I think he charged me 5 bucks or something.
But that has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand....

man, i guess i solo too much. didn't really think this encounter was all that hard. especially after the stuff ya go through in underdark. did it with my berserker/mage with only casting one mislead spell and prolly wouldn't even bother do'n that if it wasn't on insane.... And if i wasn't such a mean mofo to anyone unlucky enough to challange my char. ;)
Guess i need to uninstall the whole thing and play the game w/o TOB installed...
Btw a little off topic...
don't see how you folks can stand a ranger/cleric. Try'n to play one with only minsc as backup and its rough goin'n. is it just me or do clerics and druids get the shaft in spells when compared wiz spell selection?
