Problems with installation

When I'm about to install BG2, the uninstall message pops up, and ask's me if I want to uninstall BG2.
If I click on OK, the game uninstalls in about 1 sec. and then nothing happends.
But, I deleted the game manually some days ago, 'cause when I was going to uninstall it, the same thing happened.
And now, I can't install the game.
What can I do to get the game installed again??? :(

search for: Interplay Entertainment Corp.
in regedit and delete it.(if you don´t have any other Interplay games installed)
This should work...
If it doesn´t I dunno.

Try locating and deleting a folder in your Windows/Temp folder that resembles the name below. (Do not empty recycle bin until you have confirmed it is the correct file so it may be restored!)

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\{77b5ad60-8f14-11d4-9bc9-0050041a1090}

If you double click on the above folder it will appear empty.

I was having exactly the same problem as you. My previous uninstall did not complete fully - leaving the above file in the Temp folder so it thinks it is still installed but isn't. Once removed I was able to install fully. Good luck! :)

PS

If this solves your problems and you have managed to reinstall your game, if you have other Black Isle software installed - you may want to restore the deleted file as it could have connections....

The key to avoiding the problem we have had is to use the programmes own uninstall feature where you can then just manually delete any files left behind, which I gather is probably what you did. To manually delete a whole programme you would need to know everywhere it may have installed a file.

My problem was caused because somehow my programmes uninstaller got corrupted and did not work properly... ;)

What do you mean you could,t find the map? which map are you talking about?

Oh and I didn't mean the Temp folder in your BGII directory, the C:\Windows\Temp folder...check the path again in my previous post - I hope it helps.... :)

I meant I couldn't find the file you were talking about, so I deleted everything in the c:\windows\temp\ directory, but it still won't work...

By what your telling me, you cannot install it again because it thinks it is installed correct?

Just run the damn setup file sand directly launch the intallation and intall ontop of it (if it thinks its installed anyway)

One thing from me to you. DONT TOUCH REGEDIT, i have many probelms with that bloddy thing in the past. Dont delete anything from it, only edit (e.g. a CD directory or something)

This is where I, personally, would do something REALLY drastic and reformat the drive! - ANYTHING to play the game without such heartache.

But before you do anything like that - email Support@Interplay.com.

Sorry I couldn't be of any more help :(

As an afterthought - can you not install using Start/Run/Setup.exe with CD1 in your drive?
