Having a Little trouble Deciding...

Well, I have been trying out the Kits for the Paladin, and I'm stumped. Maybe someone can enlighten me a bit with their opinions to these 3 questions.
1) Do the kits just get their bonus' or are they added to the bonus' a paladin usually gets?
2) Between a Cavalier and a Undead Hunter, which kit is more useful? I'm a little weary here because, I like both kits but currently I see more undead than demons.
3) Which is harder, the Dragons or the Lichs?
Thanks for Reading.

hi
my bet is the undead hunter, but you should take a look at the inquisitor, if your not planning on having keldon in your party. their special abilities such as true sight and disspell magic is a godsend when battling magical creatures.
as to your first question, the kits' bonuses are not added to a regular paladin. the kits are speacialized form of a paladin and so have certain abilities but not all. look at it this way. a paladin is more like a medical doctor whereas a undead hunter, cavalier, and inquisitor is more like a surgeon.
liches are harder.

Hi Orland, and welcome to the Board!
1) All kits, not just the Paladin ones, are a variation on the main class. Each kit may do some things better or differently, but also sacrifices something in return. As Jennabard already stated perfectly, they're specialists.
2) Between the Cavalier and the Undead Hunter I would say it is a wash. They're both really cool kits. The main difference is the Cavalier cannot use missile weapons. So if you wanted to use either Crossbows, Bows or Slings with your character take the Undead Hunter. However, you could always work around this and put proficiencies into thrown weapons (Dagger, Axe, Dart). I would still take the Inquisitor over either though. With the number of magic users throughout the game their special abilities become invaluable.
3) I also think Liches are harder (one in particular!) but found the Dragon battles far more satisfying, especially if you try them at lower levels. Nothing better than a low level party, spells exhausted, bloody and battered but still alive, marching out of a lair with the beast's hoard in their backpack...
I guess that's it,

its all a matter of opinion, think of it like this, first time through you encounter a lich and you have the corrct weapons by accident, but then you go to frikragg and assume all you can do is fight him so you dont have any protection spells or anything else useful and bam you die.......its all a matter of level , surprise and protection

Beg to differ. I have found that the harder liches go down without too many reloads, but your first dragon with be absolute hell. It took me an hour and a half to beat the red one.

Their are more undead in the game, though, so an Undead Hunter might be more useful. I still think the inquisitor is the best paladin kit.

Hehe, yeah my very first fight with the red dragon was, to say the least, difficult. However, after the intial shock you realize what you need to do.

I played throught with an Undead hunter, and I recommend it to any beginners. Have him specialize in mace and long swords and Dual wield. Add an anti charm confusion item, get the mace of disruption(improved) and flame tongue, and you got yourself a vampire slayer

Oh yeah, I dont take kits that NPC have, so you can use original ones and their advantages. Get Keldorn, the game will be a lot easier!
As for which is harder, Dragons are tought but Liches are...very h...

Daystar is a +2 lonsword that does double damage against undead and can cast sunray once per day. It can be found in the gates district. Personally I don't find it very useful since many undead are immune to +2 weapons.

The Daystar is a kick*** Long Sword - especially against any and all undead. The first time I found it I stumbled upon it by accident!
In Athkatla, go to the City Gates and enter the Crooked Crane Inn (the one with the Romeo and Juliet takeoff). Search the main floor for the secret door and soon you will find the Daystar. First, however, you'll have to get by its guardian...
Enjoy,

True, there are undead that are immune to +2 weapons, but the first time that Sunray clears out a horde of vampires you'll be glad you took it. I usually leave it in Keldorns extra weapon slot...

Yep, I know that guardian you all talk about in the Gates Section ( He is the reason I asked if Lichs are harder than Dragons), while trying out the Cavalier, I stumbled upon him and, well, he ate my party for breakfast, Resist Fear Helps, but that fire-shield sucks, even after a dispell. It was a valiant fight as my level 8 Player Character lasted about 60 seconds before dying from a magic overdose of unreal porportions.
This along with that vampire to pops out in the bridge district I've foughten have brought me to consider the Undead Hunter, though, the Cavalier definately has merit with resists to fear/fire/cold (and the lack of missile weapons is not totally bad, you can still use a sling or throwing weapon, besides, in Baldur's Gate, I never had my Paladin use missile weapons).
The Inquisitor is a very nice kit, but the reason it is not one I am interested in is because you can not cast priest spells, turn undead, or lay on hands. Basically, you do not do what makes a paladin a holy warrior to me, sorry. Besides, I will probally pick Keldorn, even though I'll miss Viconia (she's a good cleric).
So, the recommendations tilt toward the undead hunter and inquisitor. I think I shall go with the undead hunter as that Lich in the Gate Section is in need of some humility (Actually was the first time I've ever seen my paladin go down so fast, sorta smarts the pride).
Thanks all.

I am currently playing an Undead Hunter and love the kit. I never have to worry about level drain and with the upgraded mace of disruption he is just awesome against the undead.By the way, the thing about taking Keldorn into the party to use HA is very cool. Two paldins...Undead Hunter and Inquisitor....sounds nice.
