Questions about Fallen Paladins

Call me crazy, but I'm considering purposely becoming a fallen paladin. :D  Anyway, I just needed to know a few things:

1) Fallen paladins are supposed to be equivalent to fighters, so does that mean you can progress to advanced weapon specialization (+++++)?

2) Just for the style effect, when you becom 'fallen', does the character screen actually say "Fallen paladin" or just "fighter"?

I just thought it would be interesting to try this sometime...thanx in advance. :) :D

In BG1 you could advance and you were called Fallen Paladin. I'm sure someone will confirm this being the case also for BG2.

Something in addition: what does your alignment change to if you become a Fallen paladin? :o

I played a Paladin in Baldur's Gate 1 and I was not able to put more then two ++ in a weapon slot. I believe that Paladin's because they get other bonuses, can only specialize(++). If one lose all their Paladin bonuses once one becomes Fallen, but then gain the ability to have +++++ as a fighter, why not just play a fighter in the first place? If they get other bonuses as a fallen paladin then I don't believe they should then get the +++++. But I am not sure.

I have this thing about stylish titles. :D Fighter just sounds too one-dimensional, but Fallen Paladin suggests a rebelious, more imposing type of person.

I started a Fallen Paladin character for BG1. I hacked in the Helm of Opposite Alignment first to give him the proper outlook then went about being evil. It's cool for Role-playing purposes. :)

I played as a Fallen ranger for while, and the screen said "Fallen ranger", so I should be the same for paladins.

I don't thing you will gain any advantages from the fighter class such as 5 profs and faster level gain. But I agree it's a good idea to play fallen paladin anyway, it's very stylish :D

It's a pity the group of fallen paladin don't let you join them, even if you're a fallen paladin yourself. A fallen undead hunter working for Bodhi is cool anyway. :D

You can always use SK to make him stronger, not cheating mind you but creating a new class of warrior. Also can a fallen paladin use cromsyr?

An advantage of a fallen paladin is that you can roll high stats at character creation
