Okay, I've got to make a decision, help! I'm in Athkatla and have got to do something. I'm a 12th level half-elf mage. Do I a) go to the Graveyard where Aran has sent me, thus continuing the actual storyline. b) Go to Umar Hills, plant the damn acorn, get Valygar and get my Sphere or c) go to the plane prison since I've freed the bard and then visit the sewers to destoy the Unseeing Eye, thus not ever needing the sewers again. Good riddens. There's not much else I can do, I've done practically everything you can do in Chapter 3, that doesn't involve going to Umar Hills or Windspear. Should I also go to those places before heading to the Graveyard? I HATE making decisions Image

It's very much up to you, really. Do you want to go through main story line without much fuss? Or, do you want to gain more exp and money first?
If you want to have the mage stronghold, then I recommend you to get Valygar and do the Planar Sphere quest first. Also, if you have Keldorn in your party and planning to keep him, you should go to Windspear to kill the Red Dragon. So, you can get the Carsomyr, a must for Paladin.
Oh, Acorn will be planted in Windspear, not Umar Hill.

Thanks, I did the Astral Planes jail and now must decide again. Hmmm, the Planar Sphere sounds pretty damn interesting, as well as Keldorn. BUT I wish you could have more to a group. I've got Aerie (can't get ride of because she's my romance, Minsc and Jaheira are too powerful to let go, plus my only real fighters, then Jan is the best Thief, which you need and Edwin is far more powerul than me. Damn it, I wish I'd know Constitution effect the number of spell slots, I put all my stuff in Wisdmon and Intelligance Image

I'll rid of Edwin, if I were you. This is very much my personal opinion, but you have 4 mages and I assume you don't want to get rid of Aerie. Edwin is the best mage in the game, but you have only Minsk who can take serious bashing. Just try to be a better mage than Edwin yourself. Image

You should get rid of Edwin because from reading the NPC section of this site, Minsc and Edwin do not get along and things will deteriorate badly eventually. Also, three mages in a party is more than enough to do the job.

Minsc and Edwin will end up fighting each other...if you keep them close together and your Rep gets high.

There has been post on people making it thru the whole game without them fighting..I've tried it and had to reload 3 times to stop them from killing each other ,but made it to the end of the game with both.
