After the assylum when i can either go with Saemon and eventually the Sahuagin city, or to the Underdark, depending on the path I take, will one area no longer be available to me once I choose which way to go? I just kind of want to see the Underdark and Sahuagin both, so please reply and tell me if I will have an opportunity at both or not.

If you follow Saemon you will not miss anything; the portal to the underdark is a shortcut and skips a bit of a quest with some fishfolk. Some good loot to be had if you go with Saemon.

I think it's possible to return to the Sauhagin city later even if you bypass going there with Saemon from Spellhold; however, I urge you to take that route from Spellhold because you can get a really awesome magic item there: the Cloak of Mirroring. This item will serve you well against Beholders and Gauth beholders (which you will encounter in the Underdark), for most of them constantly toss Cause Light to Medium wounds at you. You can laugh at them as you shrug these effects off. Also, if I'm not mistaken, area spells that inflict damage (such as fireball, ice storm, or Fire Storm) are turned away by this cloak as well. A favorite tactic of mine:
My Cavalier, with this cloak on and armed with Carsomyr +5, stands in the middle of a Firestorm and toasts Beholders all by himself, while the rest of party hides around a corner so they won't get turned to stone. I waxed untold amounts of them this way, and racked up big experience. The cloak is worth it BEFORE you get to the underdark.

Welcome Chanak!,
I'm pretty certain it is NOT possible to go to the Sahuagin city if you use the portal to the underdark (without cheating). - Curdis

Really? I recall seeing those areas on the map after I escaped the Underdark. Of course, I never did try clicking on them to see if I could actually go back to, say, Brynnlaw, or the Sauhagin city...
What I did do one time (after I had already completed the game doing it the right way) was try a few alternate things, and one was to go through the protal, instead.
The Sauhagin city is so much more fun to do, I don't see why anyone would want to bypass it. Fish fry.
