Just a quick Poll before I sign off tonight, or this afternoon as it'll be in the US...
What would your least favorite quest or sub-quest in BGII be? Note that I refer to only the reasonably sized ones...
I think mine would easily be the Cult of the Eyeless quest. Why? Well, it has a bad atmosphere about it, and I really hate Beholders and Gauths. These bastards are nearly impossible to kill without either using sneak tactics or the Cloak of Mirroring. I also find it bizarre that it's supposed to be easier to use the rod to destroy the Unseeing Eye, yet to get the bloody thing you have to get through about 4 more of it's kin! Mmm, yes, very easy...

I hate the whole Jan thing....he is the only thief I like but you have to do all this running to keep the girl from kicking off. I HATE quests that make you run everywhere......of, and maybe not a quest...but Jaheira romance really ticks me off.

Irenicus' dungeon, for certain.

I agree, the Unseeing Eye can be a little annoying from a role playing perspective. I mean, if I really wanted to stop the beast I could take him out easily with a relatively low level party by attacking the cult members. But doing it the "right" way you have to take on 20 more beholders and it's much harder. I also am not too fond of the quest to get the genie's lamp in Irenicus' dungeon. That requires a little too much walking for my taste

most personal quests:
that of Korgan,Jan and Keldorn are really anoing.
u must walk a whole lot change from cd's a lot and u get only little exp.

Ack! Yes! The worst, hands down!

These days, I just CLUAConsole in Crom Faer, Silver Sword, etc. in order to get out of that place as fast as possible.

First time through the "Baron Ployer - Jaheira curse" was quite annoying - also a lot of transportation. In later games I leave Jaheira outside the inn.(But definitely Irenicus dungeon because you have to do it every time)

As much as I love paladins, I utterly hate the paladin stronghold quests. None of them are nearly as cool as the Windspear Hills quest.

Irenicus' Dungeon does suck...

But I also agree that the paladin quests are pretty pathetic too. To activate them you need to have carsomyr, and yet they send you on piddling quests to deal with a couple of ettins, and to mediate some dispute. Far too much travel and effort for too little gain. And then to have to babysit is just a p*sstake....

I expected much more.

Of course, to be fair, it's hard to top the Windspear Hills quest.
They should have made you do all that little piddling crap first, and then sent you to help Garren Windspear, so that the fight with Firkraag would be a proper climax. They did it in reverse.

Iranicus dungeon SUCKS!!!!! Maybe I hate it so much because I have started about 20 different games and played the damn thing 20 different times!!!!

You're kidding, I hope. I've restarted at least as many times as you, but without replaying that bloody dungeon. Simply use a multiplayer save (copied from single player)just after emerging from the dungeon, make a new PC and copy back to singleplay.

Irenicus dungeoun of course, but that's probably only because I've done it the most times.

Personally I didn't enjoy the druid groove quest. My hate-quest is the theatre people/planar prison quest.

@Callimar: Seeing you are a Scot, I have to ask you what you think about the accent the Dwarwes have in BG2. Many people think it sounds Scottish, I think it does not, rather like some accents in Northen England. Am I right or is it only that I haven't heard many enough Scottish accents?

2 things comes to mind:
1. the dryads in the 1st dungeon, it takes so looooooooooooong before I can get the acorns delivered.
2. the paladin 'stronghold' thing: long walk, little fight, little reward

I hate the druid grove and the D'Arnise keep. Those quest realy piss me off.

Mine would be quest's in which you have to leave behind a NPC. Just as you are making out a balanced team, bang. Some stupid messengar, comes running along and good bye Keldorn, Mazzy or what ever. This is really annoying because I tend to allocate potions and scrolls to certain NPC's. And losing someting like your scroll case can become really annoying.

Ah yes, of course, I'd forgotten about Irenicus's Dungeon. Played that a hundred times too many.

Callimar: Seeing you are a Scot, I have to ask you what you think about the accent the Dwarwes have in BG2. Many people think it sounds Scottish, I think it does not, rather like some accents in Northen England. Am I right or is it only that I haven't heard many enough Scottish accents?

If you're referring to the generic dwarf sounds (such as "By Moradin's Hammer!" and the like) I'd have to say I've never heard a single person from anywhere who speaks like that. It doesn't even sound like an exaggerated Scottish accent. I think that accent could perhaps be labelled simply 'Dwarvish' as it has no real similarities with any modern voices. Are you sure you think they sound like Northern English accents? I'd say the typical Northern English accent would be a Geordie (maybe you don't know what they sound like, but the only real references I could give you would be the English footballers Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne, whose voices you probably haven't heard).
Now, Korgan sounds more like an exaggerated old Scots accent, but you wouldn't hear anyone speaking like that (certainly not in the Lowlands, the Edinburgh area). But perhaps he could sound like an English speaking Viking and a Scot from the 15th century or something mixed together.

I got the idea they sounded not like a Geordie (I know one personally) , but like some elderly people I met in the small villages in Yorkshire. But it was a long time since I was there, my memory might be totally wrong.

I only played with Korgan in my party a short while, but I didn't perceive his accent as Scottish either. Of course I haven't been to every part of Scotland, but almost (I love the place.)
I don't know what the Scots in 15th century sounded like, but the Scandinativan language sounded like Icelandic, and was very close to the English language in the Middle ages, so an English speaking Viking wouldn't sound like Korgan at all. As you say, I think we just have to establish that "Dwarwish" is a language of it's own, but closely related to English
