Keldorn, any good?

Keldorn's main attraction seems to be his monopoly on Carsomyr. He's not a great tank (lousy stats) or very useful in any other area (no healing spells). With +5 weapons practically lying in the streets in ToB, what good reasons are there (other than taste) to keep Keldorn? Do his True Sights and Dispel Magics measure up to the advantages of the other tanks?

Yeah, to me, Keldorn's Inquisitor abilities are worth it, even without Corosmyr. True sight is a level 5 ( ? ) spell, and he casts Dispel Magic at twice his level. Plus, give him the gauntlets of dexterity, and his only serious stat deficiency is more than made up for.

Although your point about ToB is fair, in SoA I would rate him as essential in any good party, unless your PC is a Paladin (and yes, he is much improved by the Gauntlets of Dexterity).

yes i agree totally with Agnocar and Keldorn is one of my fav npc. With Keldorn in your party u can free up your mage spell slots for other spells. True sight a level 6 spell and dispel magic can be cast at a casting time of 1 for inquisitor instead of the long casting time for mages.

Keldorn is a mage killer. He took out Lavok or whatever his name is in the planer sphere .....alone. His dispel magic is great. Saved my butt many times.

I'd have to agree with the majority. Keldorn is a necessity in any good party. The true sight ability is fantastic because you can set it off instantly right in the middle of combat when those pesky assassins keep sipping their invisibility potions and backstabbing your mage to death forcing those angry reloads. Carsomyr of course, is a huge plus. It's the 50% magic resistance, though, that makes it so

Keldorn be great!
Nay forget that his Dispel Magic be at twice the ol' geezer's level, meanin' he'll be able to dispel more effectively than anythin' else.
An' aye, the Gauntlets be helpin'. Basically, they just be givin' him an AC bonus o' 4. But if ye use him with a crossbow as well (Heavy Crossbow o' Accuracy comes to me mind), his aim be better too.
That, an' he be havin' a fine portrait!

So, with Keldorn hogging the Gauntlets of Dexterity, is Anomen still any good? Problem is that he cannot be replaced with Viconia as long as Keldorn is around
Ah, well... Aerie also gets level 7 Cleric spells

Anomen still be decent. Remember, in close combat dexterity only matters for AC. Since Anomen prolly be usin' a shield, the gauntlets be better suited fer Keldorn.
What a coincidence ye find them gauntlets in the exact same quest as ye meet Keldorn.....

keldorn is hell on wheels, at first he is a little weak as a front line ftr, but as the game progresses he's awsome.

In addition to the Gauntlets, I would take Keldorn over to the Adventurer's Mart and buy him the Girdle of Hill Giant Strength. That boosts his STR to 19, and that together with the Gauntlets and the Holy Avenger make Keldorn hell on wheels.
As for +5 weapons "lying in the streets." One of the true beauties of the Holy Avenger is that you can get it relatively early in the game. The forged weapons, on the other hand, are pretty much out of reach until chapter 6.

At what point can you access Watcher's Keep?

I don't know, but since it's supposed to be very tough, even for a party that's completed all of BG2, I doubt you'd want to try it with a low level party.

It's also supposed to adapt to the party's level.
Which makes for another interesting question: Should you enter Watcher's Keep as soon as possible? If you do, you'll face less dangerous opponents, but still reap the same rewards. Having a level 8 party pick up +5 weapons sounds rather interesting.

The Most Noble char in BG2.
Certainly. Everything Ajantis should have been, IMNSHO
I think it's so great when he hacks that bi**h Viconia into pieces, I hate her!
When!?
If!

But we need not get into a "Viconia is better than Keldorn" debate... Though I wouldn't mind good discussion
