How do you play the game

Do you ...
1. Complete all the quest in all districts then go to spellhold
2. Go to spellhold as quickly as possible then return for the quests
3. Go to spellhold and straight to fight Irenicus missing all the XP

Sad, but true. I get so caught up in how much fun I'm having traipsing about and smacking the crap out of dragons and demi-liches, I completely forget about my poor little sister.
By all accounts, Irenicus probably would have gone ahead and killed her out of frustration before I finally arrived.

I allways complete all possible quests before going to spellhold. Makes the game alot longer and a little easier too.

Definately complete all possible quest then go to spellhold. Imoen would probably have died from old age when I finally arrived. Though on my first game I got to spellhold on about day 15 (thought I had to be quick or something bad would happen). This of course made the Underdark very difficult, especially when fighting those bloody brain suckers, the Illithid (anyone think these are nearly impossible to fight without sneak tactics? especially when there's more than three). I also prefer to establish my party early so the people I want to keep get
all the experience.

I would say get your char up to about lvl 13 or so then go to spellhold. Imoen will be lvl13 when you pick her up, you can then tidy up any remaining Chap 2 quests when you return from the underdark - also giving Imoen the exp.
I originally intended to try and complete everything before going to Brynnlaw but I did not realise then that Imoen would lose out on exp (whatever your level at Spellhold she will still be level 13)
There was such discussion in a previous post which enlightened me somewhat.

I usually bum around ch 2 until I kill Kangaxx; usually around level 15 and then I head for spellhold
