Bored at work again. Planning a new party to take into ToB. What are your opinons of the following party:
Korgan: Main fighter, single wielding Stonefire/Frostreaver (using shield) and Hangaard's for distance. Probably equipped with Red Dragon Scale/Shield/Helmet + Boots of Speed and thrown in melee while my mages fireball like crazy.
Anomen: Cleric and second fighter (lots of boosting spells and Blade Barrier), single wielding FoA (using shield) and Sling of Everard for distance. Equipped with Gauntlets of Dex, of course. PC romance.
Jaheira: Druid and bodyguard to mages. Wielding Spear of Withering and Darts for distance.
Edwin: Main mage. Wielding Staff of the Magi and Boomerang Dagger/Fire Tooth for distance.
Jan: Backup mage and thief (thief skills first and foremost in detect traps, open lock and detect illusion). Wielding Arbane's and Light X-Bow of Speed for distance.
PC: Female Human Assassin (thief skills first and foremost in hide in shadows, move silently and set trap). Wielding Daystar/Blackrazor and using Tancheron's/Gesen.
So what do you think? Remember to be nice - it's my birthday today...

Happy birthday Astafas!!!!!!!!!
About your party......don't you want to try Sarevok????? I love korgan, but i think i'll drop him for sarevok in ToB (in my first game)
If you want to play an assassin, why taking Jan??? Except for the fun.......
I prefer Viconia to Anomen, but he's more fighter.
I think i'd go with:
Me (druid, to have a look at the improvements in this always underrated class)
Sarevok
Viconia
Edwin

Thanks Ed!
Well, yes, I do consider the option of dropping Korgan for Sarevok. I like the little bastard, though, so we'll have to see if I truly got the heart to part with him.
As for Jan, he works well enough as a backup mage and his thief skills will come in handy, especially early in the game. But truth be told, I simply can't imagine a game without him.
For a long time I too preferred Vic to Anomen. However, that was before I experienced the supremacy of actually turning vampires, mummies and other undead. Also, I like the facts that Anomen has twice as many hitpoints as Vic and doesn't need a girdle of strenght.

What about:
Me (druid)
Sarevok
Edwin
Vic
Korgan (never enough damage will be done in ToB.........)
Jan

I don't know about having both Korgan and Sarevok in the same party. Aren't they very much the same kind of fighter type? I guess I'd rather change one of them for Mazzy with short bow, if I'd wanted two pure fighters.

I don't think mazzy and sarevok would get along very well. Sarevok would probably get tired of mazzy's goodness and try to step on her.

Far from all differences in alignement causes real fights. For example, Korgan and Edwin works well with both Keldorn and Mazzy.

He he he. Imagine THE villain of BG1 starting out as a level 1 thief. How very pathetic...

Y'know, I've found that each new character's party is better than the last for me. It's either developing skill or memory loss, but to my knowledge, the party I have know is the best one yet...
1. Me. I'm a Swashbuckler with the Blade of Roses +3 (sometimes I use Flame Tongue, particularly against vampires) in my right hand and Adratha the Drinker in my left. I wear boots of speed and the studded leather armour you get from Minister Llyod in the Umar Hills. I wear a nymph cloak too (my total charisma is something like 22

)
2. Mazzy. She uses her Short Sword of Arvoreen, and with her girdle of giant strength and a cloak of mirroring she fairly kicks ass. She carries the Saving Grace shield +3 on her left arm, and wears another pair of boots of speed.
3. Keldorn. Predictably armed with the Carsomyr +5, he also kicks some ass. Shame about the strength though (where are the gauntlets of ogre power?). He's great for dispelling magic, something which is very useful against spellcasters.
4. Jaheira. Probably the weak link in the party. Armed with Erverard's sling +5, she most definately does not 'kick ass'. I think her kills number up to about 40 something... She is useful for healing though, and I hadn't the heart to get rid of her. But with the rod of smiting, she's good against golems.
5. Aerie. Good spellcaster... Holy Smite is one of the most useful spells in the game. She's got some other sling (I think it's the sling of Arvoreen +4) and is also a useful healer as well as a useful weapon. She may not be strong, but, hell, I like her anyway. Engaged in romance with me
6. And finally we come to... Imoen. Took over Yoshimo's vacant slot, and I have to say I'd rather have him back. She uses the boomerang dagger +2, which I have an odd fondness for. At present she carries a +1 buckler. I use her for fireballing everything in sight, and casting the odd Chain Lightning too. She can cast level 7 spells - usally prismatic spray.
To be honest, this party shouldn't work, but it does...

Me: a swashbuckler dual-wielding 2 short swords (just for variety), probably the Shadow Thief-sword and Cutthroat. Or then shield and sword...dunno...or one long sword and one short one...
Keldorn: my main tank, armed with (surprise surprise) the Carsomyr, gauntlets of dexterity, boots of speed and some girdle of strength. btw, my Keldorn hacked the hell outta Sarevok
Cernd: my main healer and a backup fighter...I wanna try the improved druids and this is a different party

armed with the usual...I really don't know what to give him.
Mazzy: my archer and secondary melee fighter. Thought she would be a great add-on in roleplaying sense, since I've got Keldy. Tansheron's or Gesen's and some short sword. Bracers of archery.
Nalia: my mage. Armed with the usual mage equipment (staff of magi etc.) I haven't had her before.
Haer'Dalis: my secondary-everything. He can be a fighter and a mage. Armed with his two short swords and maybe the Jester's plate.
Nalia, Haer'Dalis and Cernd are totally new for me, so this is gonna be different and probably challenging. I think I'll enjoy it. I once had Cernd for a very short while, but I liked him.

Btw, has anyone had Haer'Dalis and Jan in the same party? I think they're both CN and like to pick on the other party members so I think they could have some funny conversations...
And just wanted to say that there will probably be more character interaction in ToB, so it's possible that, for example, Keldorn and Korgan will fight or something like that, more good vs. evil chars.

Ok if you are going to use those players i think you are weak on the up front fighting.
Korgan is fine.
But i find Anomen a weak fighter compared to Minsc or Valgar - i can never remember how to spell his name.
Excellent with the flail of ages, but thats it.
Hey you guys seem to know a lot of new weapons in TOB.
Is there a link to this stuff or a some threads here?
Well i would go with my existing team right now and since i haven't finished the game i doubt if i would want to change it.
Myself - Paladin: hey a +5 weapon in chapter 2 is a must no matter how common place the choice of character is.
Minsc: Celitual Fury, and that pain in the butt to get hammer.
Jaheria: I have no idea i keep swtiching what she uses
Valygar: Wave
Aerie: Staff of magi
Imoen: Gesen and equalizer.
Is it just me or people here really like the evil alignment.

well this is the party i beat the game with last time i played....
PC: Christian Human Conjurer
Minsc: WarBlade + 4, also has 2 bows (elven Bow+3, Mana Bow +4
Korgan: FrostReaver and dragon Shield and cursed armor (-5 charisma -2 const but awesome defense)
Viconia: WarHammer in Nalia's Keep
Keldorn: Carsonmyr (of course)
Jan (gotta love him): Some short sword (forgot name) and some other shield with Nights Gift
I regret takin vic over Anomen though Vic provided a decent romance story

Remember, *any* party is a good party, if it works for you, and you don't die all the time.

That means if you want to play with no mages, it's fine; if you want to play with all magicusers, it's fine. I would only recommend that you keep a cleric in the party, or at least someone who can raise others from the dead. That comes in very handy.
