My take is negative plane protection as an imperative...all those vampires become easy to kill once their drain doesnt affect you

amulet of power for figther mages, figther clerics or just cleric or mage

boon of lathander...too short duration
negative plane protection spell..the duration is still too short..especially for when figthing hordes of vamps at once

and undead slayer! the innate protection is very powerfull and will repay itself many times over..and couple him with daystar and shield of harmony...what vampires?

Protection from Evil: must have when squaring off against demons. But negative plane protection is helpful too, although I think it balances out if you have three or more casts of restoration.

1.-definitely Negative Plane Protection (being level drained just s...s!): Amulet Of Power
2.-close to that IMO Mindshield/Protection from PSI : Greenstone Amulet, Shield Of Harmony
3.-Non-Detection (if it counts as protection) : Cloak Of Non-Detection
4.-Protection From Evil is minor IMO, although effective : Sensate Amulet, Staff Of Magi

question : from what I have read, Barbarians are enraged also immune to level drain, anyone confirm this?

They are immune to level drain when enraged. At least my barbarian was when he went toe-to-toe with vamps and smote them most fiercely. Image Barbarians and monks I think have the highest natural resistance to status ailments and magic, what do you think?

What about Protection from Magic: Abjuration? I believe imprisonment is an abjuration spell. While being level drained definitly s...s, being imprisoned is far worse. In the first case you can still fight, albeit it at less capacity than usual. In the latter case you can't fight at all! And if you're unlucky enough to have it cast on your main, it's game over right away (seemingly none of the morons in your party knows how to cast a freedom spell).

protection against charm, domination etc is very important. there is nothing more annoying when your main kiling machine goes nuts and starts carving up your party Image

yes, that's why I mentioned Mindshield (including charm protection IIRC) as 2nd close to 1st
(happend more than once, that my cleric got sliced up in nearly 1 round by my tank being improved hasted Image but I think having a berzerk in your party it's an omnipresent danger Image like occupational hazard, you know)

ups forgot that one: Protection From Magic: Abjuration...yes, when you need it you need it badly but not that often. IIRC faced Imprisonment like 5 times in the game, not more...

The only times I seem to go down and have to reload are when my party members get charmed, confused, dominated, etc., so my vote goes for mind protection. Level drain is reversible and you can still fight on, imprisonment sucks but it is pretty rare, but mind affecting spells are prevalent through all chapters and thus more important overall, IMHO.
