planar sphere apprentices

Has anyone gotten them to make any of the 3rd attempt items correctly? I might have messed up, by asking for a ring of protection on the first one (was hoping it'd be +2), and one of them died. Now even if I ask for the easiest 2nd one (scroll of mislead), another one always dies trying to make the 3rd item, no matter which one I choose, and the survivor says the item didn't work either.

Is it even possible to get this to work? Am I screwed on the 3rd item because one is already dead? Any way to increase their chances?

TIA!

If you keep all 3 alive through the first two items (option 1 or 2 in either case) you can get them to make the Ring of Wizardry but it kills off 2 of the 3. Attempting either other option on the 3rd time around kills off all 3 with nothing to show for it.

The ring is called the Ring of Reaching and gives extra 5th,6th,7th level spells. From a 'good' roleplay perspective it isn't worth it, but from an evil perspective or power gamer prospective it's really nice.

Apparently you can also get an identical one from a Harper at some point, but I never followed that game path.

????

Where are those apprentices you're speaking of? Never found them when I went through the game for the first time....??

You need to be a mage and get your Stronghold.

But there must be a way to get the Robe of the apprenti (one of the items of their third quest) because there is a CLUA code for that robe("clck29"). How to get them make it without beeing killed ?

I don't think there is actually a way in the game to get every item that can exist. For example, I have a character running around with an imported Cloak of Balduran, Kiel's Helm, Kiel's Morning Star, and Ashideena -- but I have yet to see them in the game or hear of anyone else finding them...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, especially the Cloak.

There is a warhammer that is all but identical to Ashideena (+2, +1 electrical)but it does not convert it when it is imported.

Those items are left out on purpose I believe. Maybe it's just unused "graphics" (text for that sake). If they were left out they surely were too powerful or something.

They weren't left out because of graphics because they exist, you just can't actually get them without importing or editing.

I thought the cloak might have been left out because of its power...until I found the Cloak of Mirroring which is generally stronger. Still, maybe they thought one insanely powerful cloak in the game was enough.

The Cloak of Balduran could put magic resistance for certain characters (monks, paladins, Viconia) over 100% with the right other equipment. Unlike the Cloak of Mirroring it is vulnerable to Lower Resistance and doesn't bounce damage back, but it would cover spells the Cloak of Mirroring does nothing about.

I have no idea what the Robe of the Apprenti would be like if it could actually be made, but I'm sure the Archmagi and Vecna robes are better, but if you want a Staff of Power, go to Twisted Rune -- it's called the Staff of the Magi.

The ring of Wizardy that you can "find" from the Harpers is during the first confrontation with Galavary.

If you've done the quest where you rescue a harper and bring it back to the hold, and then the subsequent quest to help Xzar find his thieving friend, you'll be able to get a series of quests involving the Harpers.

The first one is where Jaheira is called back to the Harpers alone, then she'll come back the next day and ask to bring the entire group with her. If you go with her, you'll be forced into a fight with some Harpers, one of the wizards drops the ring. I think it's the male one.

Needless to say, you need to have Jaheira in your group for this to work, and no you don't have to romance her into it.

re: the hammer. You can actually get the hammer, not sure whether you get the electrical damage. I found it under the bridge you repair when going to see the avatar of amaunator. its on the other side on a panel from the bridge before the Gauths...hope that makes sense!
