Making a Fighter/Wizard

Post by mEtaL-hEaD »

Hey...I made a new character and i made him a half-elf fighter. When he leveled up I put the lvl on wizard so hes a lvl 1 fighter / lvl 1 wizard...but I can't cast any spells! He leveled up again and i made him a level 2 wizard...and still no spells...? Whats going oo0o0onn???
By the way, I tried buffing his atributes by lowering charisma and wisdom all the way down and putting all the rest full. Is that a good idea?

Don't know for sure why but I do know that Int. is the primary attribute for wizards also you can not where armour, this wil prevent you from casting. You can where rings, cloaks, bracers, and necklesses, also there is a suit of elvin chain that allows you to cast in. Hope this helps if not reply or just reply anyway.

I'll make mine Targos!!!!

yeah, my int is maxed out (+4)
whats happening is when i open his spell book, theres no Wizard tab or anything for spells. Currently I dont have him wearing any armour.
Oh yea...what about when I buffed all his atributes by lowering his wisdom and charisma all the way down? is that a good idea or no?

High wisdom is a good idea, for all your characters. Charisma, however, doesn't really matter except for your first character and maybe one other.

Your problem is really odd, though. I've made all sorts of things/wizards and everything has worked fine. Try reloading from before you added the wizard class and try again, maybe?

What do you mean with "whats happening is when i open his spell book, theres no Wizard tab or anything for spells" exactly? you can't memorise spells or you can't even learn them? Also, is it possible you simply dont have a casting icon imported in your actionbar?

Okay, in my opinion, what's happened is this. When you create a level 1 wizard at the start of the game you get to select a certain number of spells. Howe'er, if you multi-class into one, you don't. The reason you don't have any spells to cast is probably that you haven't learnt any. You need to buy some scrolls and learn the magic from them. Anywho, Sorcerers are infinitely better than Mages, you want to stick with Sorcerers, that way you aren't restricted by how far in the game you have got with regards to spells. I always end up stuck with a Wizard able to cast tonnes of high level spells but no scrolls to learn said spells from.

a high wisdom is good, charisma really isnt all that important unless you have a sorcerer. i made the mistake of creating a killer wild elf sorcerer and totally blew off charisma points, had to recreate him though, cause whats the point of having an awesome sorc with no spells? if your still in targos go see Elytharra and by some scrolls, if you cant learn anything start over, and dont use a mage haha mages are for humans

The thing is, with Sorcerers you get fewer spells to learn, but can cast them more times and don't have to learn them from spells. With Mages you can get much more variety, but can cast them a fewer number on times and are restricted by what scrolls you've already found/bought. Sorcerers are much better in my opinon. Either recreate character as a Wizards, or go buy some scrolls from Ethylarra, or wait 'till (SPOILER ->) you get Limha's scroll case, whichever you are closer to, dependant on whether you've played the game before.

Charisma is averaged among all your party members, so don't min/max it unless you want bad reactions and poor store prices. I usually put my main character at 16 and the rest at 8-10 and I do fine.

Only use sorcerers if you are positive that you know exactly what spells you want and if you know you won't need any others. Otherwise, stick with a wizard because they can have a bigger spell library than a sorcerer by far.

Metalhead make sure you didn't make a sorcerer by accident because charisma powers their spells.
