Guys, give me some suggestions on who to play for my new game... archer/thief is boring. So I'm open to any suggestions on wat class/kit i should be? Im thinking something like a cleric or maybe a wizard slayer? help me out, thanks! and, should I solo?

i'm finding solo to be a good challenge, but i wouldn't recommend it until you've finished the game a couple of times and seriously know what's what.

if you're going to be a straight cleric, take a kit as they have no disadvantages. i did read about a solo priest of helm who had a great time with his.

if you do go solo, choose one of the more powerful class combinations, like ranger/cleric or fighter/mage(or even F/M/T)

try a different style - assassin

Try a monk.

Thief! Single-classed thief! In a party or solo'ed!


All evil party, Assassin, Korgan, Edwin, Viconia. They also happen all to be single-classed. Do the evil quests, make evil choices.

By the book party. Minsc, Jaheria Yoshimo/Imoen, and whoever you want to be. Try to get to Spellhold as quickly as possible. Do quest like they were meant to be done, with a sense of urgency!

Stop resting in dungeouns. Windspearhills, all the way, no rests! Also, Imoen can't die. Hey you aren't allowed to because you are a child of bhaal, what about her?

Don't buff before battles. Don't tell Firkaag that you will come back for him so you can set traps around him.

If you solo, be a thief. You have to be super-creative until you get to level 23 or so and get the HLA use any item. After that, its a breeze because you can use wands. If you solo a thief id recommend being either a Swashbuckler (you turn into a superior fighter but no backstab) or an Assassin (backstab rules the day, and since you level so quickly the decreased thief points mean little).

Pick one of the WORST class, it makes the game more challenging.

You could take :
- Beastmaster
- Skald & Jester
- Normal Mage (They can be strong too, but not as powerful as a Sorcerer)
- Avenger & Shapeshifter
- etc.

Or try to take any character but play with weapons like Darts, Daggers, Clubs, etc.
