Jaheira curse and other party questions.

Ok, this is my 2nd playthrough. I'm at the point where Jaheira gets that damned annoying curse... I found Ployer, killed him, took her lock of hair and then rested.
Curse still there. Rested again - curse still there. Went to a temple and had them cast greater restoration - curse still there. Now damnit... that sucks.

Question #2. My character is a sorceror, level 17 (I imported my sorceror from my last playthrough because I hate being a sucky wizard). The first time I played through I used Minsc, Anomen, Yoshimo, Korgan and Jaheira. This time I want to use Viconia as my cleric but I also want Edwin as a back-up spellcaster. I play Icewind Dale 2 with 2 sorcerors, 2 tanks a cleric and a thief - and I got used to that. So there's one character excess ballast. Who should I lose? Gotta keep Yoshimo cause I hate Nalia and Imoen, Korgan is just cool, Misc tends to get into fights to the death with Edwin but Jaheira isn't all that good at anything she does. Of course... there is always Valygar and all those "other" characters who you can pick up later who I never used.
Any suggestions?

And what about that damned curse

Have you rested in an inn in the best room they have to offer for at least 4 days? It can take a while ;)

Oh, another factor I forgot to add. My Sorceror is Chaotic Neutral, so my familiar is a cat... is it a good enough rogue that it can take Yoshimo's place and solve the extra party member problem?

No the cat wont, or atleast shouldnt make up for yoshimo.

What about aerie? Wouldn't you say she's a fairly good support character? (Though weak as a kitten) Also, I've always found Jaheira to be an OK druid and a good mid-range defense (against people who make it past the tanks), esp. combined with Aerie. So have you thought about multi-tasking like this? Jaheira's curse isn't solved by restoration, you HAVE to rest it off

There are two words that define why Jaheira is good to have along in any party:
Insect Swarm

Though admitedly Cernd can do that too yes? Though I think that Jaheira is way better than Cernd to have around.

1) It goes away after a full day. Rest once more, and it will disappear.

2) I'd try out Keldorn, though he fights with Viccy and Edwin, I think. Mazzy and Valygar are other good choices.

She is more versatile because she can fight and cast spells at the same time roughly. I find Cernd is nearly useless if you don't keep him as a werewolf, but in that state he can't use magic. Jaheira is also a far more interesting character.

Completed the game with Jaheira as the main tank. She did not disappoint. It meant she hardly used insect plague at all the whole game (cast time too long). Strength Belt is a must, although I used stolen potions until she got one ( Jan gets the first str belt, for obvious reasons).

I remember my first game - Aerie would indeed die alot. Not so in my last game; fully geared up Aerie is a decent tank. Play her spells and sequencers right and she neednt die at all. Apparently holding a great big shield doesnt affect her finger-wiggling, so no probs with mage spells either.

Jaheira's curse is annoying, but it goes away after a few rests. Maybe it measures 24 hours or something?

I have Jaheira and Aerie in my present, predominantly spellcaster, party and they are both standing up very well. Chloe is actually my primary fighter, so what I'll do is have Jaheira cast Insect Swarm while Chloe heads in first, once the spell is cast I send Jaheira into the thick of it as well, and between the two of them they do a very nice job slicing up enemies into little bits.
Because Jaheira is the only character I have that can wear full armour (I don't put it on Aerie, except for shields and helmets obviously), she has all of the best stuff, and she definitely holds more than her own, I find her invaluable.

Until I found/ could afford the strength items I just relied on buffing or potions and it worked fine, but the girdles and gauntlets certainly make it consierably easier.

To my great chagrin, I kicked out Minsc in favor of Edwin. I like Minsc... he was so stupidly honest. But I like Edwin too... he's so shamlessly arrogant. So I have my PC (Sorceror), Korgan, Viconia, Jaheira, Yoshimo and Edwin and my cat. Meow.
