What do you do to use or memorise a spell that you have on a scroll?

Specifically, I've got a scroll of "identify" & want to... identify things.
I've tried differnt members of my party, but no luck- It's sure to be simple, but it's driving me mad

this any help?

a mage (or bard) can memorize the spell

first go to the mage's invintory (with the scroll)
then right click the scroll
then click "write spell" (or somthing like that)
then go to the mage's spell book (if written succesfully) and set it to a slot
rest and you have the spell to use

to use identification
first right click on the unidentified item
then click "identify"
choose to use "spell" or "scroll"
then it is identified

Yep, that's the process.

Right click on a mage scroll in the mage or bard's inventory (priest scrolls will have a red tint, indicating they cannot be used by the character) and a "write spell" button pops up. Be warned that specialty mages cannot write or use some spells.

When identifying things, be sure to remove armor (if using a bard or multi-class mage). Mage spells cannot be cast in armor, and that goes for identify, too. To identify, memorize the spell (or have a scroll in inventory), right click on the unidentified item, and a menu will come up asking if you want to identify with a scroll or spell. Pick the appropriate one, and bob's your uncle.

Also, look at the record screen of your characters. There is a "Lore" ability (score is shown) that gives you a chance to ID magical items without spells. Bards have the best lore, followed by mages. Try giving your items to one of these characters, then right click on the item. If it comes up with a description, you have successfully used the lore skill. If not, your lore isn't high enough for that item, and you have to use the Identify spell or have the item identified at a temple or mage tower.

Thanks guys.
I didn't have a mage- just a paladin & a cleric, I thought that they were both magic users, so they'd be able to read the scrolls (duh!).

I've got a mage now- up to the severed hand- it a big game!
