I noticed things I never noticed in this game before,

1) Imported characters from BG 1 retain the benefits of the tomes that boost attributes.

2) Imported characters from BG 1 do not suffer attribute penalties when choosing a kit i.e.- a druid from BG 1 with a strengh of 19 (thanks tome) will still have a 19 strength after starting a career as an avenger in BG 2.

3) Familiars get better stats if summoned at higher levels. Try summoning a familiar at level 7 and then at level 20, more HP and the ability to pickpocket (cat familiar).

4) Thieves with "use any item" can have the benefits of a familiar! Just read the scroll and reap the benefits.

5) Importing and starting BG 2 costs 5 HP to your character.

6) You retain elemental shapeshifting abilities after dual classing a high level druid, even if your level is less than the druid's.

7) The BG 1 imported dual avenger/ fighter (20/ 25) is the best class combo in BG 2. Not too cheese with lots of abilities to mess around with. Regeneration rocks in a fight!

nope, sorry. the only familiars able to pickpocket with any success are the cat and the ferret and they ALL have set abilities and HP regardless of whether you summon them at level 7 or level 20. i believe your mistake comes from the fact that after you defeat Irenicus in hell, your familiar is upgraded.

4) Thieves with "use any item" can have the benefits of a familiar! Just read the scroll and reap the benefits.
all classes can get a familiar with the potion swap technique.

aside from being a right bugger to get, whats the difference between a fighter->druid and the avenger->fighter?

but the first is a "legitimate" BG2 move, unlike the 2nd...

iamweaver: this is true. fair play an all that

i'm sorry but extra forms means nothing. there is nothing those forms give you that is exceptionally useful and can't be gained by a spell.

as for the avenger/fighter, it shouldnt be a realistic dual class anyway because of the stat hit, but i take the point about the importing.

Thats cuase Irenicus tortued you a little bit, not cuase you started a new character, noticed you got burned, zapped, etc? At the beginning?
Though the dmg is there when you start, but the reasoning for the dmg is the torture.

@Thrain With negative plane protection and sword spider Chapter 3 is even easier than usual. Ur right the forms dont count for anything in the later parts but theyr nice options at the start. :)
