Fellow members of the forums. I noticed that the there is no powerful long swords that are +4 and above mentioned so far in the Baldur's Gate 2 sites. How many of you guys are like to use the long sword and have any of you all found any powerful long swords yet?

i do.. there aren't too many good long swords.. but my proficiency is with long swords and mace.. there aren't good maces either..
anyways argurvadel is +5 .. i think you have to combine it with something to get to
+5..otherwise it was +4 i think @@

There is a few powerful long swords in the game. One is agurvadal +5, you find it as +4 but then upgrade it later. Anyhow...it gives the wielder 22 str and does 1d8 +5,1d4+1 fire dmg. Pretty nice =). Also theres "The Answerer" which lowers magic resistance by 15% each hit and lowers ac by 2 each hit. Those are two ive found thus far. No good maces??!?! Storm Star is awesome.

Storm Star you get from machine of lum the mad, one of the notes you pick up tells you how to get it. Its originally storm star +3 but you upgrade it to storm star +5. Its a nasty mace.

Yeah, i use longswords usually blade of roses and flametongue. Did you know flametongue counts as a +4 weapon (it can hit Kangaxx, so i checked it in infinity explorer & it's classed as +4). And i haven't got ToB
so i can't comment on new longswords.

Daystar, Dragonslayer, Blade of Roses are the good long swords of the original game (don't have ToB yet
).

@Mr. Sprinkles:
Blackrazor may be very powerful, but how long can you wield it in SoA?

Mega Toerist has a point, how long can Black Razor last in TOB?
Not to forget that some monsters (eg, Demogorgon) can only be hit by +4 weapons and above.
Come to think of it, apart from argurvadel is +5 and the answerer, are there any other powerful +4 long swords?
Hopefully, the administrator will post up the locations of some of the swords soon.

@Jace4Ever:
Here's a list of most new items in ToB. They don't have any locations mentioned, adn neither do they have the "basic" version of most items, but it's a decent list. I couldn't find any other long swords that are better than The Answerer and Angurvadal
. (now, we'll have to figure out just how long "The Answerer"'s effect lasts)

Why go for Long Swords when you can go for Katanas??? They do almost the same ammount of damage as a Two Handed Sword (the crapper ones) and only need one hand to wield! I really hope there is a 4+ or better Katana in ToB.
Anyone heared or seen a 4+ or better Katana?

I think there are no really great long swords in the game, but there are a lot of good ones, which makes the a weapon for my kensai, who fights with two long swords, with ***** as long sword proficiency and *** in two weapon combat. In main hand I have Blade of Roses, Dragonslayer and Daystar, in left hand The Equalizer. (I use the best long sword in left hand because the others have special abilities, and I want to change between them quickly).

IMHO, the Equalizer absoulutly sucks.

Yeah, Hindo's Doom. It's pretty mediocre by ToB standards. Protection from death spells, 10% magic resistance, casts greater restoration 1/day. Yawn. Go for axes, long sword, bastard sword, flail, or hammer instead.

yeah i'm with Zaha, i have my kensai duel wielding long swords with the equalizer in the left hand, and daystar, blade of roses(my fav), and dragonslayer in the other. I had to put the equalizer in the left cause for some friggin reason it would switch to the weaker weapons when fights began. Its a strange bug, like Anomen is more proficient with the Flail of Ages but he will use another weapon instead, a weaker mace or something, its very frustrating. Or when i want to use the daystar against the undead but the comp automatically keeps switching it with other weapons. It ticks me off man. Well thats just my two cents
