'which level' advice for dualling..

Post by Brookster »

hi again

I'm really enjoying my Kensai at the moment [dual-weilding long swords->haste->food blender-style mayhem!] but fancy dualling to a mage at some point soon...

wondered what everyone's opinion was re. best level at which to switch - 9? 12?

Depending on your party, when playing with a full 6people party (definatly when you have some multiclass characters in it) i would dual at lvl9
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

One caveat:

It's worth dualing at 12 (extra star) or even 13 (extra 1/2 attack) IF you're taking the party through ToB. SoA only, I'd definitely dual at 9.
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

If you have ToB installed, it might be more interesting to dual at level 13, so you can have one extra proficiency, an extra half-attack, and you can still reach lvl 28 as a mage, which is the level at which you have all the High Level Spells, and you stop gaining spells per day after that.

I think I'm going to /have/ to do ToB!

This is what I've be weighing up... impatience to start spell casting... half an eye on exp. maximums... but not wanting to get up to the high levels and be wishing I'd got just that bit extra hp/attacks/proficiencies...

if you only want the extra hps, dual at 9 (or even 7)

if you want extra proficiencies, attacks and general tanking power, dual at 13.

unless you're soloing and do every quest, i doubt you'll hit the exp cap

7 with SoA (9 if you're patient), 13 with ToB (the game is a long one).

Make sure you save a bunch of scrolls for your future mage, and kick everybody out of the party before you scribe all of your scrolls (you want mega XP, and this is probably the easiest way to get it).
